PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
JPMorganChase(JPMC) formerly WAMU (2008-2009)
Sr DB2 DBA for ZOS
One of select group retained by JPMC to support Wamu DB2 Database
decommissioning tasks, data extracts for the conversions, Keep The lights
on maintenance support.
Developed and tested a process to improve DB2 table reorganizations for a
large CIS database to meet a new requirement of doing more reorgs in half
the maintenance window. The new process allowed the DBA's to reorg over 90%
of the CIS database in half the time versus completing approximately 25%
using the previous processes.
Implemented schema changes adding LOB objects while performing cleanup
tasks to obsolete objects that the DB2 and application teams were unaware
of.
Developed new standards for internal use to conduct DBMS hardening exams
resulting in eliminating obsolete schemas.
Washington Mutual Savings Bank(WAMU) (2001 - 2008)
Sr DB2 DBA for ZOS
Developed a process to purge and roll DB2 table partitions with minimal
down time to a near 24x7 application for Wamu.com saving over 800GB of DASD
and 50 minutes of CPU daily.
Provided analysis, design assistance and implemented a full rewrite of a
poorly performing DB2 application which saved over 400GB of DASD and 1.5
hours of wall clock per day.
Primary Support DB2 Backup/DR processes including developing REXX scripts
to reduce the checkout time after a DASD Flash Recovery from 60 minutes to
30 minutes.
Implemented several new DB2 packages and 1 in-house re-write in DB2
including support for a new IBM Websphere Application. One package was a
upgrade from VSAM to DB2 which reduced the batch window by 2 hours nightly
exceeding the goal of 1 hour.
SME for DB2 Connect EE servers, client software and support for over 2000
clients in the Call Centers.
Successfully on-boarded four off shore DB2 DBA's for our department which
included training them on our shop standards, change control processes,
SDLC, and security.
Lead DB2 internal team meetings to discuss projects, standards, Q&A with
the goal of improving the Departments effectiveness and cultivate team
participation.
Elected to serve as primary audit liaison for Wamu DB2 applications. Tested
and implemented appropriate DB2 audit changes on required for compliance.
Oracle DBA/DB2 DBA (1999 - 2002)
Transitioned from UDB support learning Oracle 7 on windows NT servers for a
Package called Recon-Plus. Successfully recovered a Oracle 7 database from
a Florida server to a backup server in Seattle after a fiber cable
controller started to malfunction. Convinced the Business and application
team to add a development server which could support multiple new releases
of the Recon-Plus application and be a backup DR server.
Received a Wamu Award for outstanding technical support exceeding the
business and team members requirements.
Continued support for over 2000 IBM OS/2 Servers running UDB workgroup for
a critical Retail Bank Teller system and mentoring of my replacement on the
OS/2 team.
UDB DBA on OS/2 (1993- 1999)
Support large scale Re-Engineering development converting branches to OS/2
Servers using Visual Banker(SmallTalk, C, IBM DB2 UDB) environment to
replace all the teller and sales software in the branches and Home Loan
Centers.
Developed utilities to manage the capture, audit trail, compression of over
300 tables, then packing and distribution to over 2000+ servers.
Successfully supported Quarterly Releases which required up to 72 hours of
continuous support.
Provided test environment support for all Static tables including ad-hoc
table distributions to 4 different lab environments.
Leveraged my previous knowledge of a Banking package known as HOGAN and
developed various mainframe processes to store effective dated tables, give
business users training on how to update the data and develop utilities to
extract the data, upload it to the OS/2 servers for inclusion in the Static
Table Database master used at the 2000+ branch servers.
Alaska Airlines (1990 - 1993)
Sr IMS DB/DC DBA
Provide DBA support for 40+ IMS programmers implementing new systems, a
large package to replace the accounting system, Recovery as needed.
Racf Administrator for both Alaska Airlines and Horizon Airlines employees
numbering over 6000. As the only RACF Administrator I received all requests
to setup/remove employees and then delegated specific RACF group
administration to the business liaisons in each line of business that we
trained.
Convinced Business to allow for monthly cold backups for critical
applications. Successfully setup and ran DR exercises.
Successfully completed a large recovery using the monthly cold backups
after a Head of String DASD Crash of the most critical
maintenance/inventory system within the SLA. Which could have caused the
FAA to ground the entire fleet of airplanes if we missed the SLA and avoid
the damage to the Companies reputation.

of the newly formed HOGAN support team bringing our first IMS/DL1
application in and developing a in-house Teller system using CICS/DL1.
Lead a analysis of a manual system for the International Banking Division
then designed a new automated system using CICS/DL1 to bring the department

Spent many years developing expertise in Computer Operations, programming,
debugging, recovery, tuning of mainframe applications. Known as one of the
top guns in this shop, my expertise was called upon often to aid others
when needed.

bad module that was moved to production without going through the proper
testing certification.
