Experience/Qualifications.

Retired Navy Chief (HMCS) E-8. Was Chief Technologist NAS Naval

Hospital, Jacksonville, FL. 1972-1979. supervised staff of 25 Med.

Techs in General Lab. And 7 civilians in Cyto & Histo, Dept. Was

responsible for all phases of Laboratory operations. Writing annual

Evals. For all Naval personnel. Had to make sure all Lab work was

done on time. All shifts where staffed. Also this Lab was the drug

screening Lab for all military bases on the east coast. Worked the

bench several days a week to keep up. Rewrote procedure manuals as

required to keep up to date with latest tests and instrument use. In

the Navy from 6/59 to 12/79. During that time spent time in Viet Nam

as combat Corpsman with the Marine Corps, 3 tours. Also had various

duty stations over the 20 year period.

Worked part time while on active duty at Methodist Hospital in all

areas and Baptist Hospitals in blood bank & micro in Jacksonville

between 1972 and 1979.

Worked Jax. Blood Bank as MT 1980-81 after retirement while attending

college courses. Performed ABO/Rh, AB screen and ID. Crossmatches,

RhoGam, FFP and thaw and cross match of FRBC. All other phases of

blood bank

Worked for Humana Med 1st clinic in Jacksonville doing Lab., X-ray and

back office nursing procedures. Supervised week-end staff of 6. 1981-

83. Had Lab. License in all five areas and basic x-ray license in

state of Florida.

Over 40 years as a Medical Technologist

Last 17 years inspected Hospital and Physician Laboratories for

COLA/CLIA compliance. Involved 90% travel. 9/93 to 5/2010. During this

time I have become familiar with the QC/QA, Maintenance, Calibration/

Cal. Verification requirements of most Instruments on the market. Up

to date on all HIPPA/CAP/OSHA regulations.

Spent total of 2 years performing temporary contracts at various

sites, mostly Indian Health Services. Worked all areas of Laboratory.

This unit performed complete physicals for the Mail Handlers Health

Plan. Collected blood for CBC & CMP. Ran urines on Clinitek-50.

Performed EKG, Spirometery, Tonomitry, Audiometer, vitals. Was

responsible for all operations of the unit.

Total of 2 years as instructor in MA programs in Jacksonville, FL. 87-

89 & 2 years in Colorado Springs, CO. in MA and MLT program.

Instructed MA's in basic Lab., Injections, EKG and A&P and all areas

of MA Training.. MLT students in Blood Bank and Micro. 1988 to 1990.
