Primary Customers: Space Age Electrical (UAE), Sternberg L ighting (Roselle, I L),
U SA I l lumination (Highland, NY). Developed optical systems for both indoor and
outdoor luminaires - employing H ID, Fluorescent and LED l ight sources.
Apr i l 2005 – July 2006: Lead Design Engineer – GE I ndustr i a l and
Consumer Lighting – East Fl at Rock ( Hendersonville) NC.
Member of the NPI department, designed a garage luminaire slated for the 1 stquarter
of 2006 release. Delivered four optical designs whi le navigating around existing
i ntellectual property. Worked with Chinese suppliers in order to conform with their
p roduction capabilit ies.
Developed a 2nd generation garage l ight design, which would accommodate electronic
H ID ballasts. It had more optical design / application f lexibil ity.
Redesigned the Street D reams Cutoff louver to meet performance and cost criteria.
B ased on the 175W metal halide lamp, exceeded fixture efficiency by 43%, moved the
peak candlepower from 35 to 70 - i ncreasing the spacing / mounting ratio from 1.4
to 5.4 (15’ mtg ht- 3 lane road – staggered spacing, per RP8 requirements). Reduced
cost by $2.67 whi le improving quality.
Developed the Tiger Wide optics, to compete with Holophane’s Mongoose roadway
optics. Achieved 640’ staggered fixture spacing on a 4 lane highway – 30’ setback -
45 t i lt – 40’ mounting height. Holophane achieves 500’ spacing based on the same
c riteria.

developing and integrating l ighting products into modular furniture systems. I was
a lso responsible for the design of single circuit international power. During that time
I i nit ialed a $56K, $150K and a $250K cost savings, by product
modification / material / tooling changes. In 1990 I was transferred to the Advanced
P roduct /Process Development department. My responsibilit ies were for identifying
new manufacturing processes / materials / products and make proposals on how
t hese technologies could best benefit the company. Worked on the NEOCON “Office of
t he Future”, which appeared in several trade magazines and news magazine TV

Designed and developed track and recessed l ighting fixtures. Worked with the
m anufacturing facilities to improve production and communication. Conducted UL
& CSA testing and submitted products for approval. As a member of the
merchandising team, I helped withy identifying product needs. I also trained the
sales force on how to read and interpret photometric and other pertinent data.
Received two patents – one for a f lexible low voltage track system and the other for an
I C recessed l ighting product, which would accept higher wattage A-l ine lamps (while
recessing the lamps higher into the ceiling cavity).
May 1974 – August 1982. (1980-1982 Design Engineer, 1978-1980 Designer,
1974-1978 D r aftsperson): – McGraw-Edison Area Lighting D ivision –
R acine, WI
While at McGraw-Edison, I attended college in the evening and received two optical
patents. One patent was for the MON I I wall pack and the other was for the SFK and
S FL indirect fixture (as part of the SPI indoor l ighting l ine). I also authored to
computer programs – a modified zonal cavity analysis program and a r isk analysis
p rogram for new product ventures. Spent one year in Marketing Research.
