EXPERIENCE
American Surgical Providers, Memphis, TN
September 2009 - December 2009
Business Development - Contract Position
Assisting in the development of a medical supplies distributor
division within a company that provides mobile cataract services
across TN, AL, and MS. This supply chain solutions division will
provide consumable surgical and medical supplies, diagnostic
equipment, and pharmaceutical-related products to a variety of
clinical practice end-users in the hospital and surgery center.
Medivance, Inc., Memphis, TN
October 2005 - April 2009
Territory Sales Manager
7th Territory Sales Manager hired in the United States for this "start-
up" medical device manufacturer that began commercial distribution of
the Arctic Sun Temperature Management System in October 2003.
Responsibilities included all marketing, education, and sales
activities into a newly expanded territory that included TN, AR, MS,
AL, and GA. Key call points included all Critical Care ICU's (with
special emphasis on neurocritical care patients), the Emergency
Department, Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, and Neurosurgery.
Despite my territory being reduced in size two times in three years, I
was rated in the top 30% of Territory Sales Managers in my reviews by
the VP of Sales.
Baer Supply Company, Memphis, TN July
2004 - October 2005
Territory Sales Representative
Hired to drive sales in a territory with over 160 accounts in middle
and west Tennessee, north Mississippi, and southeast Missouri. Early
success was a result of my ability to sell the value-added aspects of
Baer Supply, my conceptual selling skills, and the strength of my
relationship-building skills. In addition to the sales contributions,
I worked with management to develop an Excel based software tool that
was implemented nationally to reduce the time that was spent by sales
reps generating quotes/proposals for customers.
Smith & Nephew, Memphis, TN
January 2004 - July 2004
Temporary Employee
Worked in the Orthopedics manufacturing division while pursuing a full-
time career in the medical sales industry. Responsibilities included
operating the CMM, a computer measuring device used to verify the
machining tolerances of the various hip and knee replacement
components.
Ohmeda Medical (G.E. Medical Systems), Memphis, TN
October 2000 - January 2004
Territory Sales Representative
Assumed responsibility for a struggling "expansion" territory covering
north Mississippi, west
Tennessee, and all of Arkansas. Utilized former client relationships
to grow existing business while aggressively seeking new business in
competitor controlled accounts. Exceeded Sales Plan two out of three
years despite a major law suit from our closest competitor preventing
the marketing and sale of our most popular neonatal temperature
management product, the Giraffe Omnibed. Product sales, marketing, and
training responsibility included capital equipment and medical devices
(Masimo Radical included) in the Neonatal ICU, Labor and Delivery,
Respiratory Care, and Central Supply.
Mercury Medical, Memphis, TN
January 1998 - October 2000
Territory Sales Representative
Recruited to represent Mercury Medical as the first "direct" sales rep
in an expansion territory covering middle and west Tennessee.
Implemented an aggressive sales plan to convert business from
competitive manufacturers and other local distributors. Increased
sales base of capital and disposable products by making presentations
to healthcare professionals and administrators in the Interventional
Radiology, Anesthesia, Surgery, all Critical Care ICU's, Respiratory
Care, and Purchasing departments. Increased sales from former Dealer
revenues of just $12,000 annually to personal sales in excess of
$500,000 annually in less than 3 years without any GPO contract
products.
