Instrumental in securing a contract rewarded to Chemical Industrial Services of Detroit, to
perform environmental testing of the City of Detroit’s potable water supply. The city of Detroit,
MI, not only supply drinking water to urban city dwellers, they also supply water to
surrounding communities. Testing was done in accordance to the State and Federal EPA clean
water act.
Over the course of more than five years held the responsibility for developing new market
composites. Managed the oversight process of initial materials approval and production scale
up. Materials formulated, tested, and obtained approvals generated more than $1.2M in sales.
A few of the composites are currently being used on General Motor’s Escalade and Avalanche
lines, and International Truck’s light and heavy truck product lines. Also, assigned to the GM
Ev1 (Electric Car) to provide materials development, approvals, and engineering support.
Over the course of 2 years, I was involved in the goal and achievement of increasing
production man hour efficiency from 5% to 8%. The replacing manufacturing equipment,
inserting new process procedures and quality checks, upgrading computer software and
hardware accounted for some of the improvements. The remaining improvements for which
my team and I were accountable involved; formulation re development, materials cost
reductions, technology development (Recycling, Nano materials and Green manufacturing),
and customer satisfaction, resulting in a materials cost saving of $800K.
