Cadence, Inc. is a custom manufacturer of cutting and piercing instruments
specializing in quick turn-high precision knives for both industrial and
medical applications in two separate facilities.
Manufacturing Manager
Provide management in a team-based organization for 10 direct reports and
65 indirect reports including maintenance and facilities.
Promote a lean manufacturing perspective of evaluating orders and puling
them through the system. This process has improved machine efficiency by
15%.
Led a cross functional team, including Design and Manufacturing Engineering
and Sales that facilitated the installation of a laser welded/injection
molded, medical device.
Manage five Manufacturing Specialists (Technical Supervisors) in a 2 shift
manufacturing facility.
Implemented a full time training system including a cross training program
that is utilized by the production control department for staffing and
overtime schedules.
Manage a 3 person maintenance group of which my team has implemented a
Preventative Maintenance program for over 100 pieces of High Technology
equipment. This increased uptime from 80% to greater than 90%.
Defined and implemented a program to decrease equipment downtime which has
reduced the number of emergency repairs by 30%. This included analyzing
data of equipment breakdowns, working with enginering to make mechanical
and electrical modifications and installing controls to verify the
implementation was successful.

Responsibilities: develop solutions to resolve/eliminate product failures;
design and optimize plant layouts utilizing lean manufacturing techniques,
as well as material and labor cost reductions.
Management By Objectives utilizing Performance Management and peer
assessment review programs. Including supervising 1 - Manufacturing
Engineer, 1 - Industrial/Safety Engineer, 2 - Front Line Supervisors, and 7
- Hourly Quality Assurance Inspectors.
Manage the manufacturing department Six Sigma program including a DMAIC
Project to reduce raw materials inventory by $2.2MM resulting in a carrying
cost savings of $330K.
Analyze product failures and identify root causes for continuous
improvements.
Coordinate new product releases/enhancements to production. Maintain
communication with implementation and sales personnel to verify product
stability throughout "Beta" testing.
Work with supply chain management team to develop sales-based production

Senior Project Engineer
Responsibilities: analyses of client situation; strategy development to
improve facilities for future growth, and presentations to management
focusing on most advantageous scenario for obtaining optimal operation
performance. Promoted additional consulting services to upper management.

Harley-Davidson: Prepared labor and process requirements definition for

support unit utilizing Lean Manufacturing techniques. Results: 40%
reduction in total square footage and elimination of 75% work in process

This Alcoa facility produces aluminum-extruded products for several markets
including transportation, building and construction and engineered extruded
shapes. Tool and die manufacture through final shape fabrication is
completed in one location.

Developed operational methods for most efficient utilization of personnel,
equipment, and materials utilizing Just In Time manufacturing (JIT), Total
Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Cellular Layout. Results: increased
profits of 13%.
