Responsible for overseeing daily operations of the

Molecular Genetics clinical laboratory; including

delegation and coordination of work assignments,

troubleshooting of all equipment and assays, evaluation of

test results and reports prior to verification, handling

of all personnel issues, maintain and monitor quality

control, turn around time and statistics for over 50

assays offered by the lab.

Enforce and monitor quality assurance and regulatory

compliance established by the College of American

Pathologists (CAP) and CLIA.

Monitor the needs and progression of the laboratory staff

(training, tasking, and performance evaluations),

equipment (maintenance and selection), and research and

development projects (Jaundice Chip, Pharmacogenetics,

Bone Marrow Engraftment assay, Immunodeficiency assays,

qualitative and quantitative oncology testing,

Thrombophilic Polymorphism, Lysosomal, and Fatty Acid

Oxidation assays).

Development and upkeep of all laboratory protocols and

procedures; including newly developed assays.

Interface with collaborators of the Molecular Genetics

Laboratory to provide individualized results to patients.

Worked with collaborators to ensure accuracy of reporting

templates and findings.

Skilled with industry standard and advanced genetics

testing including: Southern blotting, PCR, full gene

sequencing, Real-Time PCR, Reverse Transcriptase PCR,

isolation of DNA and RNA from various tissue sample types,

sodium bisulfate treatment of DNA, and fragment analysis.

Skilled with ABI 7500, ABI 7900, Magna Pure Compact,

Magna Pure LC, ABI 3130, Third Wave Technologies, ABI

Fast 9800 thermal cycler, Surveyor sequencing program,

Sequencer sequencing program, Affymetrix Resequencing

Array, and MJ thermal cyclers.

Designed and implemented the laboratories electronic

information system using CERNER Millennium; integrated it

into CCHMC's system and managed critical upgrades.

Specialized in organizing laboratory-wide preparation for

certification by the College of American Pathologist (CAP)

and Environmental Rounds. Handled six successful

inspections.

Inspected other peer laboratories for the College of

American Pathologists (CAP).

Received the grade of "excellent" on yearly performance
