PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
10/97 – 9/2010 Various positions Plant Hatch, Baxley Ga
Started as Sr. Engineer and went on the Licensing Nuclear Safety and Compliance (NSAC) Duty rotation
quickly due to my experience in the nuclear field and comprehension of Technical Specifications. Answered
NRC Information Notices specific to Plant Hatch. Performed on many Root Cause and trouble-shooting
teams. (KT qualified)
Hatch SRO School – Completed (passing) through the Audit but due to Blood Pressure problems was
deemed not fit for Control Room duty. I did not let this affect my SRO grades.
Assigned to Engineering Support where I was assigned RPS, NSSS, ATTS and many other systems not the
least of which was RHR and Core Spray. Became very good with electrical prints until I was the “Go to”
person for any relay replacement on site. I was assigned to the Battery system when the current Engineer
retired. Performed as Project Lead for the battery replacement for 1B and 2B Station Service which occurred
under budget, under time and without injuries. Worked on projects for various Plant Uprates. I worked
extensively on the Iso Phase Bus project after a transformer fire. Because of my SRO experience and plant
knowledge, I was most often selected to “Stand In” for my supervisor when absent.
Was selected for Quality Assurance by Upper Management where I qualified as Lead Auditor. While in QA, I
Performed a surveillance on the Corrective Action Program for all three sites and corporate. This gave me an
in-depth understanding of the CAP Process. I participated in many other audits, as well.
Plant Hatch, Baxley Ga cont’d
Due to new engineer turnover, I volunteered for Training for Engineering to steepen the learning curve for
new engineers and shorten the time until they are fully qualified. This has given me an understanding of what
training has to do to train engineers and because of my engineering and operations knowledge, I explain well
to new personnel. At the time of my retirement I was the lead Engineering instructor.
