. Responsible for all board, PC and package designs and supervision,

simulation of new designs using Hyperlynx and Spice, and all systems

issues on new ASIC and MCM developments. Worked with 6-8 layer, SMT,

very dense, impedance controlled PCBs w/ buried microvias and 5 mil

traces.

. Led team of engineers and was responsible for design and development

of reference boards for customers and in-house software development

use. Debugged customer designs, designed FPGA emulation and

validation boards, brought up ASIC prototypes, and consulted on

systems issues as part of the project core teams.

. Responsible for system aspects of a new DBE ASIC in conjunction with

MTK Engineers.

. Accomplished significant architectural work on LiIon battery issues,

charging through USB and the overall power structure in the ASIC to

. Responsible for major changes to the design of the Bullfrog I portable

server which included implementation of three GB Ethernet ports, a

synchronous serial port, an external video input video and LVDS video

output.

. Developed redesign and feature additions to the Comet-12 thin-client,

involving DDR RAM's, Multiple LVDS video outputs, additional USB and

various improvements.

. Consulted on redesigns of Viper laptop and Bullfrog II portable

servers, and was involved in architectural work on Meteor - an AMD

au1550 based high performance thin client.

. Worked with both OrCad Capture and Mentor Design Capture to capture

schematics and create library parts, and worked extensively with the

CAD designers to implement the PCB's and release to manufacturing.

. Project lead for Puma, a 8-12-way ccNUMA SMP server with 100base-T

Networking.

Title: Manager Hardware Engineering

Apple Computer, Inc., Cupertino, CA 08/84 - 03/97

. As Design and Program Lead for the 6400 series, successfully delivered

three computers all based on similar boards with varying packages and

processor speeds. Met all schedule, cost, and quality goals and

provided over $600M to Apple's revenues.

o Developed architecture, supervised ASIC / board development and

bring up, negotiated with vendors, set up program budgets, and

hired team members. Responsible for overall design/development

and performance, schedules, budgets, compatibility, and cross-

functional team including software, hardware, marketing, product

design, quality, and manufacturing.

o Involved in MPC603e architectural development and promoted PCI

interface as industry-standard I/O slot.

. As Design lead for the Color Classic and LC-520/550, a midstream

switch of display technology was required when the LCS display

exhibited cost and performance problems. Evaluated the technologies

and proposed an alternative approach, which had lower costs both in

development and production. Managed hardware team through entire

development process and additionally produced the Mac LC-520 as

fallout from the alternative process.

. Made numerous trips to various Asian countries to qualify vendors,

review production, and negotiate contracts.

. As Design Lead of the Macintosh LC Apple //e option card, designed the

first successful emulation product and achieved a very high level of

compatibility and performance with an ASIC design and software.

. Led hardware design team completing work on Apple IIGS through EVT,

DVT, PVT, and release to production. Solved Apple //e compatibility

problem by designing and patenting new NTSC-emulating RGB method and

graphics modes with linear bit-mapped multi-palette display

architecture. Designed and patented FPI ASIC to control the processor,

memory and I/O. Publicly credited by Apple for achievements on

program.
