1/92-12/93

Operations Manager / Designer

The Millwork Co.

Columbia, SC

Specialty millwork/interior upfit (estimator, material procurement,

generated commercial and residential contract bids and architect

approved drawings, project management, hand generated shop working

drawings, oversee shop manager/quality control). Heavy emphasis on

scales of production (flow, procedure and efficiency analysis and

development related to labor/material management). Architectural

design, spacial analysis ( ie-commercial, residential work/living

space or applications - heavy emphasis on custom and non traditional

applications. Ex.- Shaw Air Force Base air tower cabinetry upfit for

desert storm, Historical refurbish - sanctuary of ornate church after

hurricane hugo, curved custom cabinetry, office, kitchen,

entertainment, etc.

* I refined the fundamental labor functions in the shop and

field operations. This minimized overhead by reducing labor

hours/tradesmen and maintained client satisfaction (timeliness)

without sacrificing quality. I developed more effective

cabinet construction in order to use less materials overall,

mill material more efficiently (less waste), and improve

strength and durability of the product. The net affect of

continually refining production methods in the shop, and

construction methods in the field generated a profound affect on

timing, material use, and quality. Ultimately we dramatically

reduced operating expenses which promoted profitability. This

became critical to the companies survivability as the economic

climate became exceptionally harsh in this industry during the

next few years.
