Chassis & Vehicle Dynamics Engineering - Volvo 3P

• Adapted certain Mack models for sales in international markets requiring European Regulation

certification. Coordinated activity with sales, marketing, & product planning. As a result Mack was

the first US truck maker certified for new truck sales in Russia.

• Acted as Technical Leader for development of new 2010 Exhaust system solutions for Mack’s

biggest customer and as Project Leader for B20 Biodiesel adaptation of trucks.

• Developed initial solid model concepts with component level FEA in Pro-E Wildfire package while

integrating feedback from CFD analysis on flow & heat transfer performance.

Product Development Group Leader 2004 – 2009

Chassis Equipment & Transport Adaptation - Volvo 3P

• Led and Managed a team of 16 Engineers and Designers to deliver exceptional results.

• Redesigned chassis components (fuel systems, exhaust systems, battery & tool boxes, fenders & mud

flaps, 5th wheels & mounting, cab ingress/egress, trailer access) covering every Mack Truck model

utilizing CFD, FEA, FMEA, & Risk Analysis which revitalized the entire product range in five years

while one model previously took three years to develop.

• Managed projects driven by EPA as environmental improvements & commonality with Volvo

carrying responsibility for components totaling roughly $40 million in annual spend.

• Improved performance and productivity of the group by using Personal Business Plans and Personal

Development Plans during bi-annual performance reviews.

• Developed budget/resource plans to deliver the desired Mack brand Product Plans on time.

• Acted as Operational Development Internal Consultant to support executives in roll out of continuous

improvement programs & facilitated the associated seminars providing me with a high degree of

leadership development.

• Led a cross-departmental team comprised of Manufacturing, Purchasing, Marketing/Product

Planning, Service Engineering, Quality, and Engineering representatives to deliver projects to

committed levels of Quality, Cost, Delivery timing, and Feature levels.

• Served as a global liaison with engineers between four main sites within Volvo 3P PD org. - Lyon

France, Gothenburg Sweden, Greensboro NC, & Allentown PA.

• Led multi-site/cross business unit engineering team dedicated to NYC Dept. of Sanitation - three new

patent applications resulted and customer subsequently submitted the largest single order for Mack

trucks in 2008.

• Developed Test Specifications and coordinated prototype testing with lab.

• Redesigned series of cast iron housings utilizing parametric CAD programming optimized in

conjunction with foundry and machining suppliers to increase strength 25% while reducing

weight 12%.

• Transformed department from manual drafting to CAD / CAE by scanning 50000 manual

drawings and utilizing AutoCAD and GTX RasterCAD plus Pro-E/Pro-Mechanica for solid

models and FEA.

• Responsible for final check & approval of special customer requests further increasing market

share for the company.

• Acted as Quality inspector for pattern equipment reviews with foundry suppliers
