Personal Profile:
I would like to express my interest in applying for the mail room clerk position at Harris
Solutions Group. My educational background is in liberal arts. I have two different bachelor’s
degrees in English and Women’s Studies, which I have learned means that I have one B.A. My
professional background is largely in retail sales. After working sales for 5 years, I would like to
move away from that career path, and the prospect of working at company as large and
productive as Harris is attractive to me.
More than anything, I like the idea of working in an office as a member of a team.
There’s no problem with maintaining a high level of productivity for me; in fact, I embrace that
because it keeps me engaged and involved in what I am doing. However, I am tired of working
in a commissioned sales environment where I am competing for customers against my coworkers
and peers who are literally standing next to me. That is not to say that I had a problem excelling
at that type of job; to the contrary, I did very well for myself.
My ideal workplace would be one with a professional atmosphere with clearly defined
goals. Too often in sales, I was working against my coworkers instead of with them, which is the
problem with commissioned sales. I would like to move far beyond that atmosphere and into
one where I am working cooperatively with my coworkers to accomplish goals and exceed sales
goals.
I am a quick, active learner. While I have never worked in a mail room, I am excited by
the opportunity to work my way up in a large corporation. I have a vast experience relating and
assisting people and communicating my ideas productively. In terms of my experience with
computers, I am intimately familiar with any Microsoft Office program, especially Word and
Excel.
I am friendly and outgoing, so I would be perfect for the any position. The mail room is
an opportunity for me to get my foot in the door, and I would like to have the chance to succeed
with your company. So I humbly ask that you consider me for the position and that you give me
the chance to show how well I can do. Thank you for your consideration.
