Achievements:
. Increased productivity 36% by setting and maintaining production
standards, capitalizing on employee skills, improving utilization of
equipment and developing communication programs.
. Improved product quality by instituting company's first quality
control circles and establishing a seven point quality control
program. These actions reduced the rejection ratio from 2.5% to .04%
of 1% of sales dollars.
. Increased production 10.9% per year for seven consecutive years by
reducing farming out of production. This was accomplished through
improved use of capacity including more effective utilization of
labor, tools and equipment.
. Shortened orders lead time from four weeks to one week. This in turn,
generated more sales and reduced frequency of reordering paper stock
and machine changes.
. Conducted open house tour which improved employee and community
relations.
. Earned recognition award from insurance carrier for loss reductions in
the plant by initiating and implementing departmental safety
policies/procedures and by developing/installing safety training
programs. Achieved 4.2 national safety rating versus 7.6 industry
standard.
. Saved$14M annually by designing/installing central bulk gum system
which reduced material costs.
