Patient Care Associate

Duties: I provided one on one care to inpatient clients in a mental

health/substance abuse hospital. My duties included, but were not limited

to; facilitating substance abuse groups while providing a therapeutic and

safe environment. I also ensured the safety of patients and staff by doing

daily room checks to see if patients were hiding any contraband.

Substance Abuse Counselor

Duties: I was responsible for facilitating assessments, substance abuse

groups, and case management. I developed a menu of groups and services

that were combined, based on the needs of the clients to equal what program

time requirements may have been placed on the participant. This style of

program allowed me to increase or decrease the amount of services based on

individual progress and need, much like the multi-level programs used by

probation and community corrections programs to provide both incentives and

consequences for offenders.

Duties: I was responsible for assisting instructors by retrieving supplies

they required to run their classes effectively. My other duties included

filing and helping adult inmates register for college as well as administer

placement testing to prospective students. I was also in charge of

ensuring that textbooks were ready and available for the start of each

semester by doing inventory and ordering the number of books that were

needed.
