Profile

I am a recent graduate, studying physics, engineering, and mathematics. I

have excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills;

studied abroad in China in 2006. I love to work in a team environment; I

participated in student academic groups that organized and ran events and

fundraisers for the school and surrounding community. I was also a student

athlete in football and track and field at Linfield College, serving as a

track and field team captain, and an athlete on our 2004 football national

championship team.

I have taken a broad range of classes in the civil department; structural

and construction management classes; I am familiar with business,

procurement, risk analysis, bidding process, sustainable projects (LEED)

etc. with various projects. I have taken business classes that include

but are not limited to economics, accounting, and in graduate school,

project risk analysis with large projects (typically public private

partnerships). I also have great verbal and written communication skills

developed throughout my academic career in my thesis research and

publication, lab write ups, and writing classes.

Summer 2008

I performed structural design and analysis calculations for structural

steel, reinforced, pre-stressed concrete structures. Projects

included but were not limited to educational facilities, prisons,

residential, and retail. Design elements consisted of stairs, girders and

beams, columns, floor slabs, facades, foundations (spread footings and

retaining walls), lateral design force calculations (wind and

seismic). I also reviewed and corrected construction drawings for

various projects. Design and analysis was performed by hand

calculations as well as software for design assistance and structural

modeling.
