EXPERIENCE:
02/2010 - Present HACKENSACK UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER, Hackensack, NJ
As a Volunteer in the Biomedical Engineering Department, I could get up to
speed very quickly and used every opportunity to brush upon my knowledge in
electronics and maintenance techniques as well as to gain some
understanding of the health informatics, ranging from the data acquisition,
storage and security to networking, imaging and electronic health records.
05/2004 - 02/2009 CREDIT SUISSE, New York, NY
As a Senior Developer/Analyst, I was heavily involved in the full project
lifecycle for Basel II and the re-engineering of the Spectral system for
the Core Investment banking business of the company.
For the Spectral system, I transformed the transactional data received from
upstream systems into the accounting entries. The project was completed to
optimum capacity and was extremely successful. It utilized advanced Sybase
12, Oracle 10g and BO DataMart features, as well as Sybase-to-Oracle data
load via bcp, SqlLoader (4M - 10M daily), and Informatica. In addition, I
was involved with the following aspects of the project:
. Provided hands-on technical leadership for data extraction,
transformation, aggregation and analysis. That included various data
sources and numerous complex ad-hoc reports, using mostly Sybase, MS SQL
Server and Oracle.
. Successfully controlled all BO WEBI and DESKI reports: was very
instrumental in the performance tuning at both the database and report
levels, worked on the data warehouse design and optimization.
The Basel II project ensured compliance with the international regulations
and banking laws issued by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision. For
this project, my contributions were as follows:
. Provided the technical thought leadership in Sybase, Oracle, Unix and BI
space.
. Analyzed and optimized both Sybase and Oracle reporting universes,
facilitated ad-hoc reporting.
. Considerably streamlined the entire process and greatly increased its
efficiency: was able to significantly compress batch processing window by
adopting innovative database techniques.
11/2003 - 02/2004 STANDARD & POOR'S, McGraw-Hill Companies, New York,
NY
As a Consultant, I independently developed a CDR FTP site for the company's
Global Fixed Income Research group and was a part of a bigger team to
develop a Public Finance Surveillance system.
. For the CDR FTP project, I leveraged existing reports to package U.S.
bond spreads data across rating designations, maturities, market sectors,
etc. and daily post them on an FTP site for external clients. I developed
very complex Oracle 8i PL-SQL procedures and packages, efficiently used
dynamic SQL, UTL_SMTP and UTL_FILE capabilities and wrote the UNIX
KornShell scripts.
. The PF Surveillance system was built as a J2EE application that was
closely integrated with other internal systems and had about 30 complex
web pages, heavy data entry and validations. It provided users with an
ability to maintain the review schedules, and generate a variety of
dynamic ad-hoc reports as well as manage contacts and automatically
generate letters to request the needed documents. I worked on the
Reporting module of the system, wrote Java 2 classes and developed JSPs
with intense use of JavaScript for dynamic data validation. I was also
instrumental in building Oracle 8i PL-SQL procedures to encapsulate the
business logic.
7/1998 - 12/2002 SALOMON SMITH BARNEY, Citigroup, New York, NY
In the capacity of a Senior Technical Specialist, I assumed the technical
leadership role for a number of large-scale projects where I worked on
software analysis, design, coding, testing and debugging, focusing on heavy
Oracle and PowerBuilder programming. I also constantly consulted and
mentored other developers on applications architecture and design. The
projects I worked on include:
. Commission Management System was a 3-tier Intranet application that used
Java 2, JSP, HTML, JavaScript, and complex Oracle 8i PL-SQL objects. My
tasks on the project include the following:
. Worked as an informal team leader: I coached and guided five other
developers in the group and assisted them with design and debugging of
almost all major modules of the system.
. Responsible for heavy Oracle PL-SQL development, wrote sophisticated
procedures, functions, packages and triggers to ensure data integrity,
used Perl scripts to format the data in data feeds.
. FC Compensation and Retirement (CORE) System
The CORE system tracked and maintained the commissions and compensation
plans for more than 11,000 Financial Consultants. This system was re-
written in 1998 from mainframe CICS/VSAM to PowerBuilder/PFC and Oracle
Client-Server environment using data feed from DB2.
As one of the principle developers on the team, my contributions to the
project were as follows:
. Analyzed and designed the Oracle database schema which held over 10
million records.
. Dealt heavily with end-users, gathered requirements, was responsible
for regression and user acceptance testing, and successfully managed
subsequent enhancements for the CORE.
. Worked closely with deployment control groups and was responsible for
all releases.
. Online Security for the CORE System, which facilitated the segregation of
sensitive data.
. Worked fully independently. Prioritized, assessed and planned all
tasks on the project.
. Streamlined the process and completed all deliverables within a very
rigid time frame, successfully addressed specific audit measures based
on clients' entitlements
5/1997 - 6/1998 PATIENT CARE, INC., West Orange, NJ
As a Consultant, I worked on the Employee System (ES) which recorded and
reported the information about personal details, skills, etc. for the
company's staff. ES stored data in Sybase System 10. I participated in
development of base class libraries, increased code reusability, created
the logical data model, wrote T-SQL statements and developed complex
triggers and stored procedures.
02/1995 - 4/1997 IMPACT ASSOCIATION, INC., New York, NY
As a Programmer Analyst/Consultant, I worked on the Press Release System
for bond ratings to provide users with the current information. It utilized
PowerBuilder 3.0-4.0 and the MS SQL Server 4.2. I designed, developed and
tested the e-mail module and generated complex reports.
7/1989 - 3/1994 DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES, Stavropol, Russia
As a Senior Programmer Analyst, I worked on the development and maintenance
of the Violation Bureau Reporting System. Designed the database structure,
developed and released to production numerous programs and reports for
maturity schedule as well as sophisticated ad-hoc reports.
