Foremen/ Pipefitter

I connected gas lines from gas main to the house and I also put on new gas risers. I hauled equipment

and ran a mini trackhoe. I also arc welded and used an oxy acetelene torch to cut and weld with. I was

in charge of 2 to 8 workers.

I built concrete forms, also finished concrete and tore down forms. We also put down new asphalt and

rolled it. We put in gas line mostly new gas main. I hauled equipment and ran a mini trackhoe,

skidstear, and hauled dirt to our fill site.

Class"C" Lineman

We were working in West Virginia put up new aerial electric lines. My job was to run the Line truck

augering out the holes to set the poles in. I also hauled poles on a trailer some up to 60' long. I would

climb the poles and help the A linemen put on the crossarms, transformers and to string the wire.

Class"C" Linemen

I started as a groundman and moved up to a C Linemen. I would set poles and climb up and assist

linemen in any way I could. I would build up poles before setting them, that means you put crossarms

and insulaters and cutouts on the ground.

Laborer

I shoveled bath (like crushed up cinder blocks) quarter mile every day. I also raised bridges everyday

for a quarter of a mile (that is too complicated to explain). I did whatever I had to to keep our Potline

safe and in order.

I hauled coal, sand and gravel with a Mack Superliner and a dump bed.

1st Mate

I built the tow we were pushing which was all hard rigging. We were contracted to the Ohio River

Company. I was in charge of 4 deckhands and a 2nd mate. I took care of the store’s orders and crew

changes and upkeep of the boat, cleaning, painting etc. I also tripped on my time off with Johns Towing

of Wheeling, W.Va. and Kanawhah River Towing in Point Pleasant, W.Va. I have about 150 steering

hours and a lot of time in the engine room.

I took 2 years at the High School and 2 years at the trade school where I studied Welding and Diesel

Mechanics and graduated from both.

Arc, Oxy Acetelene and Brazing. I graduated with my diploma in 1987.

I took the W.Va. 80 hr underground apprentice miner class to have more options for employment. With

this card I can work in any underground mine in the country.
