Responsibilities included working closely with the Administrative Assistant
with numerous clerical and office duties, supervise student office
assistants, oversee cleaning of the office, supervising and setting up
events and programs, keeping office inventory up-to-date, train/tutor new
student workers on Microsoft (Excel, Word, & Powerpoint), assist professors
with special projects, mail runs and errands, and scheduling office workers
and teaching assistants.

Responsibilities included helping to maintain the upkeep of the office,
assisting the professors with various tasks, and mail runs and errands.
* Teaching Assistant in the Physical Education Department. August 2008- May

Responsibilities included assisting the professor with tasks that pertain
to the course, including making attendance and grade sheets and grading
papers. I was a teaching assistant for Weight Management, Contemporary
Global Issues in Sport, and Human Sexuality.
* Office Assistant to the Medical Coordinator at Saint Joseph Berea. June
2008- August 2008.
Responsibilities included gathering information for board meetings, keeping
the files of the medical doctors, dentists, and nurses up-to-date, and day-
to-day office tasks.

* Intern at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital and Kirklin
Clinic. January 2010
In the clinical setting, I observed the inner workings of Pulmonary
Hypertension, HIV/AIDS, Diabetes (along with Self-Management Education),
Breast Health, Congestive Heart Failure, Transplant, and Cancer clinics. In
these settings, I focused on learning about services offered, research, and
patient education.
* Student Intern/Shadow at Saint Joseph Berea Hospital. September 2009-
November 2009
I followed a Certified Diabetes Educator during Diabetes Self-Management
Education classes and In-Patient Consultations. I completed research on the
effectiveness of Diabetes Self-Management Education and also offered some
information and tips during the classes and consultations.
Other Experiences:
* Student Exercise Physiologist at Berea College. August 2009- May 2010.
In the Integrated Biomechanics and Exercise Physiology courses, I had the
opportunity to personally train individuals and conduct exercise testing
such as the Wingate Anaerobic Ergometer test, skinfold testing and
hydrostatic weighing.
* Student Teaching in the Physical Education, Health, and Dance Department
at Berea College. August 2008- May 2010.
During various courses such as Scope of Human Movement, P.E. Activities for
the Elementary Child, Dance, and Aquatics, I planned and taught physical
education, dance, and basic gymnastics lessons at the Pre-School,
Elementary, and Middle school levels. I also had the opportunity to teach a
Learn to Swim class for Pre-School age children for six weeks.
* Volunteer at Saint Joseph Berea. June 2008- August 2008.
In the Human Resources Department, I assisted the director with filing and
updating the system of files of the hospital's staff, including physicians
and nurses. In the Berea Family Practice, I pulled and filed medical
records and performed various clerical duties.
