Teaching two classes with the Columbia Career Center fall session 2010.
August 2008 - Current: Private Tutor, Columbia, Missouri
Private tutor to a non-traditional, vocational rehabilitation student, beginning community college
at Moberly. This was a volunteer service for three semesters. I have continued to tutor another
student on a volunteer basis, working toward her Associates degree at a private university.
November 2006 – January 2008: Early Head Start Family Advocate, Missouri Valley
Community Action Agency, Warrensburg, Missouri
As a family advocate, I maintained a caseload of 15 families with children under the age of three
years old. I also advocated for pregnant clients. I completed bi-monthly home visits and more if
needed. I monitored the day care facilities of two preschools supplying services to the Johnson
County Missouri Early Head Start families. Monthly group meetings were facilitated at the
Head Start school with parenting and child development topics. I also provided support to the
staff of Missouri Valley Community Action Agency, when needed.

During my time at the Montessori school, I help the position of lead teacher in one of the two
infant rooms. Along with caring for 8 infants, I completed weekly curriculum for the successful
implementation of age appropriate developmental skills. I also conferred with parents regarding
exercises they could work with at home.

I completed my undergraduate practicum at the independent living center, working with the
caseworkers assigned to the Personal Assistant Service program. Once graduated, I was hired as
an Independent Living Specialist working in a separate program. My work consisted of assisting
individuals with disabilities develop independent living skills. My program focused on ADL’s,
IADL’s and client selected competencies. Additionally I provided research on assistive
technology and resources for case workers in the Personal Assistant Service program.
