1999 - June 2001 Gateway Country Matteson, IL
General Manager
I was a multi-unit manager. I managed 4 spoke stores
and the main store. Spoke stores are stores located
inside of an additional retail site. The main store
is the actual retail hub location that featured the
Gateway name on the building. I had P&L
responsibility as well as merchandising, business
growth, and training of employees at all locations.
With exposure to so many sides of the business, I grew
tremendously in this position.
I started in August of '99 as an Assistant Manager in
our Orland Park, IL store. We quickly grew this store
to become a consistent top-10 performer within the
company, leading the Chicago Market in units sold,
training revenue, and net operating income.
I was promoted to the Store Manager position in
September of 2000. We continued to lead the District
in units sold, training revenue and net operating
income. I was transferred to the Matteson, IL
location to increase my experience in multi-unit
management.
1992-1999 Service Merchandise
Downers Grove, IL
Assistant Store Manager
As an Assistant Store Manager, I was responsible for
the Merchandising of the entire store. This included
the proper placement of products and replenishment of
goods as items sold down. I also had responsibility
for basic store operations, including scheduling,
receiving of goods, scheduling and payroll.
I started with the company as an Electronics Manager
in the Joliet, IL location. I quickly was promoted to
the Orland Park, IL location, which was their highest
volume store. As an Electronics Manager, I was
responsible for sales, scheduling, profitability and
merchandising. I traveled for the company
re-merchandising different stores throughout the
country and training other managers in the basics of
merchandising to drive sales and efficiency.
In 1995, I was promoted to the Showroom Manager
position, which consisted of merchandising the home
goods and electronics departments of the store. Also,
I was responsible for scheduling the employees within
