Additional Information
I am currently serving in the U. S. Army stationed at Fort Benning, GA with
an ETS of 10/30/2010. I have over 12 years experience in heavy construction
equipment operations. Operated Scoop Loaders, motorized graders, 18 wheel
vehicles (flatbed), front end loaders, forklifts, Trac-hoes, rollers, and
scrapers. Assisted in the building of hard surface highways, athletic
fields, airport runways, and various earthworks. Worked 18 hour days to
meet project completion dates. Provided engineer support during flood
relief efforts. Recognized for outstanding performance on numerous
occasions.
While stationed at Fort Benning, I worked in R & U where I had to receive,
store, and inventory items; check incoming shipments of stock; store items
in established locations, and setup specific locations for new items; tag
locations and enter names, quantities, and locations of stock onto locator
records; conduct inventories by counting items on hand, searching bins for
missing items, taking recounts as necessary, and coordinating with
supervisor; issue and process returned items; select items based on
specific identifying information, or by converting shop terms to standard
nomenclature, stock or part numbers; refer to locator files, issue and turn-
in records, and part number change lists to identify and locate items;
follow up to assure return of non-expendable items and check upon return
for damage or maintenance needs; may perform minor maintenance such as
cleaning stock and parts, applying protective coatings, and replacing
wooden handles on broken tools; reports damaged or inoperative tools.
Assessed maintenance needed in Company building and barracks. Wrote up and
submitted work orders according to importance.
Earth Movement - Cleared land, built roads, airfields, athletic fields, and
constructed a variety of earth barriers by moving boulders, trees and
earth. Loads were moved upwards of ten miles in distance. Interpreted and
followed information contained on grade stakes and make cuts and fills
within specific limits. Personally moved over a hundred tons of earth a
half mile in one week.
Equipment Operations - Operated a variety of heavy equipment without
accidents and major breakdowns and at times under difficult environmental
conditions. Operated equipment in a manner that allowed for job completion
within established time frames and in accordance with construction
standards. Trained other team members on proper equipment handling.
Recognized as a safe effective operator.
Road Building - Built roads while serving as a member of a scraper crew.
Involved in not only grading the road, but also involved in compacting and
making ditches to facilitate proper drainage. Was part of a road building
team that built at least a mile of road each day.
Supervision - Received daily tasks and made decisions on the job each team
member would perform. Decisions were made on each team member's previous
performance while assigned to a specific piece of equipment. Evaluated
daily performance and assisted team members in accomplishing unit goals and
objectives. Insured organizational procedures were followed. Received
recognition for effective team performance.I have also spent 2 tours over
