• Instrumental in securing 5 site specific joint commission oncology accreditations in 2008-
2010, as well as Commendation status awards of the JCAHO in 2004-2010, and the
American College of Surgeons Cancer Center Accreditation in 2009.
• Leadership and Management of The Valley Hospital’s Institute for Cancer Research and
Genomic Medicine.
• Co-Chair of the Research Cancer Committee, which oversees all aspects of Oncology
Research, The Specimen Banking Procurement Processes, and the Support and
Development of on-site physician initiated research questions / proposals / protocols.
• Management of the Valley Hospital’s Oncology Research Team, leading this team of
MAGNET awarded professionals to exceed industry benchmarks, and institutional goals.
• Leading staff through the conception, architecture, and opening of the Genomics
Research Laboratory.
• Coordination of approximately 25 revolving, open enrolling protocols and 40 revolving
protocols in follow-up for the department, as well as promoting investigator initiated

• Spear-Headed the hospital’s involvement in the Tissue Banking Arena, and Genomic
Cancer Research.
• Facilitated the start up of an international specimen bank in Sri Lanka. Provided the
protocol and support for this project.
• Co-Authored clinical research protocols in Molecular Genomics, and Proteomics for the
analysis of Colon, Breast, Lung and Pancreatic Cancer Specimens.
• Developer and Co-Chair of a Research Cancer Committee to critique research protocols
and applications prior to Institutional Review Board Submission, and promote and
support internal research development.
• Developed The Valley Hospital’s Data Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) to overview
multi-site protocol enrollment, for which Valley is the P.I. and coordinating center.
• Design and Development of an on-site Genomic Research Lab; Interfacing with
contracted architects, facilities management teams and safety officers.
• Writing and Maintaining on site SOPs for Clinical Trials, and Research Laboratory.

• Coordinated genomic research collaboration with NCI designated centers.
• Branched the Oncology Clinical Trials Support team out to conduct trials in other
disciplines such as: Bariatric Surgery, and Internal Medicine.

• Increased departmental income by 200% in the first 3 years, and doubled that in the 4 th
year, without increasing overhead.
• Identified barriers to Clinical Trial Enrollment in this community hospital setting, and
addressed them to lead enrollment above the benchmark standards in the industry.

• Mentored and motivated staff to become top enrollers in the country in several cancer
treatment trials.

• 2005 to Present: Achieved and Maintained Accommodation status for enrollment in
Oncology Clinical Trials contributing to the American College of Surgeons, Cancer Center
Certification of The Valley Hospital.
• 2005 to Present: Instrumental in securing annual accreditation of Nursing MAGNET
status.
• 2006: Ground floor involvement in the strategic design, development and opening of The
Institute for Cancer Research and Genomic Medicine Laboratory.
• 2006: Instrumental in securing Oncology Program Certification through the Joint
Commission for Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO) in 2006. We
became the 3rd hospital in the Nation to receive this status.
• 2006 Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Foundation, Congress Scholarship Award for
excellence in advancing nursing practice.
• 2008 to Present: Instrumental in securing 5 Disease Specific Joint Commission for
Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO) Designations as “Centers of
Excellence” in the following oncologic areas: Pancreas Cancer, Lung Cancer, Breast

• Provide monthly research support and education as a non-voting member, to the Valley
Hospital’s Institutional Review Board (IRB).
