Special Education Bus Driver and Special Education Paraprofessional
I held two positions at the school district during the past years
1. Special Education Bus Driver: Responsible for
loading and transporting special needs children safely to and from
public school. Unload and assist students to class. Handle medical
and behavioral problems of students while in transit and report any
incidents to proper school authorities. Supervise and give directives
to the transportation aide while en route to pick up students. Inspect
the bus and equipment daily; report problems immediately; and ensure
that repairs are made promptly. Complete district reports, prepare
manifest of riders, map out efficient routes, and complete riders’
attendance reports. Prior to driving special needs children, I drove
middle and high school students. I have been a driver since 1990.
2. Special Education Paraprofessional: Assist professional
staffs in preparing lesson plans for specific students, make
copies for class activities, fax information, and laminate a variety
of items. Responsible for data entry of statistics, and other
classroom data needed to determine funding for both federal and
state programs. Design and “put up” the bulletin boards in the
classroom. Work one-on-one with students teaching them to
feed themselves, personal hygiene, basic manners, acceptable
behavior in a social environment, and in some cases American
