PLC design Engineer, integrating DeviceNet I/O scanners, Panelview HMI
applications using RS View Studio Edition, PLC applications using RS
Logix 5000 and Rockwell GLx Safety PLC. Also integrated numerous
Banner Vision systems used to detect specific component details. Acted
as Production Support for the daily Skilled Trades staff. Also
responsible for final documentation certification (PLC, HMI, DeviceNet
backups and electrical schematic updates) at DaimlerChrysler's Body In
White (BIW) Division assembly plant located in St. Louis, MO.
. August 2006 to March 2007 - DuroByte, Inc. Windsor, ON. Employed as a
Contract Controls and Software Engineer at LinaMar, Inc. located in
Trenton, Ontario Canada (Tier 1 component supplier for Delphi and Ford
Motor Company) providing CNC and PLC ladder logic and part program
modifications and process improvements. Also setup communication
networking between numerous CNC's, PLC's and Banner Vision Systems
exchanging barcode, serial number, date and time information and
process shift register status.
. September 2005 to August 2006 - ABB Robotics, Auburn Hills, MI.
Employed as a Contract Startup Integration and PLC design engineer
integrating DeviceNet I/O scanners, Pilz Safety Bus PLC, Panelview
applications using RS View Studio Edition and PLC applications using
RS Logix 5000. Acted as Production Support for the daily Skilled
Trades staff and trained new hires for ABB. Also responsible for final
documentation certification (PLC, HMI and Robot software backups,
DeviceNet backups and electrical schematic updates using AutoCAD) at
DaimlerChrysler's Body In White (BIW) Division assembly plant located
in Belvidere, IL.
. May 2005 to August 2007 - Brechon Farms, Dixon, IL. Contract Project
Manager and software designer overseeing the project budget, schedule,
scope of work for sub-contractors and all software development
involved in updating a large scale grain storage facility with state
of the art technology. Integrated PLC controlled, in process
temperature monitoring and control of grain in storage bins utilizing
thermocouples, level sensors, pressure transducers and infrared level
monitors interfaced to a Human Machine Interface (HMI) display. Also
monitored the load on all transfer conveyors to maintain constant
delivery rates utilizing current monitoring transformers on all
induction motors. The rate of delivery was controlled by variable
speed frequency drives. Designed and implemented a system to monitor
and control the temperature of grain stored in all storage bins
preventing spoilage of stored product. Savings generated by this
system returned the capital investment in three years by reducing the
spoilage percentage of the stored grain from 7% to 9%, down to 1%
spoilage.
