Licensed Professional Engineer, Registered in the State of Wisconsin
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Design Engineer (1980-1985), MTS Systems: Design consultant and stress
analyst for mechanical test systems; included all aspects of machine, and
hydraulic system design. Specialist in the area of servo hydraulic systems
design and performance estimation.
Application Engineer (1985-1995), MTS Systems: Conceptual design and
analysis of various testing systems. Key projects include the development
of the first MTS MAST table for automotive testing (Volvo and Structural
Kinematics). Provided all applications input and customer requirements for
the first MTS 329 multi-axis road simulator, this was a team effort (Jaguar
and Saturn). Conceptual design on first 329 with steer motion (Renault).
Detailed understanding of articulated multi axis test systems, particularly
bell crank, strut and bearing design.
Started the drive line dynamics group at MTS and developed the first flat
belt road way dynamometer system for Fiat. This business has become the
moving ground plane for formula teams worldwide.
Sales Engineer MTS Systems (1995-2001), Midwest Regional Sales Manager
OPTIM Electronics: Conceptual design, development of various systems
working closely with key customers (General Motors Corp). Knowledgeable of
in vehicle and lab based data acquisition for road simulation, signal
conditioning and data analysis software. Participated in one of the
largest in vehicle RLDA projects (200 channels) with GM Truck Group in
cooperation with Structural Kinematics (currently Defiance). Built the
OPTIM office from the ground up, to the largest sales and service office
for the company accounting for 75% of the company's total business. Hired
and trained sales and service engineers. Developed an advanced drive line
data acquisition system for GM Powertrain using standard tools, this lead
to record sales at GM. Developed data collection techniques for the rear
transmission Corvette, and helped collect crucial data on the first
prototype.
Sales Director FCS, Fokker Control Systems (2001-2004), US Sales Director:
Pioneered the first sales of Dutch based Fokker Controls in North America.
Lead the US portion of the Joint Strike Fighter Test at LMCO and won the
order over incumbent supplier, MTS Systems. Initiated a multi year sale
at Lord Corp that formed beach head for FCS automotive test products in
North America. Trained in all aspects of aerospace static strength,
dynamic fatigue and HIL testing. Hired and trained sales representative
and service engineers.
Director of Outside Sales Shore Western Mfg (2004-Present). Built and
manage an international representative/agent network and sales force.
System sales and applications engineering for various systems. Responsible
for leading the sales of a large state of the art impact system for
Lockheed Corporation, 3 meter 6 DOF seismic test table for Factory Mutual
Insurance, and a new composite structural test lab for Gulfstream. I was
directly responsible for opening business in Pakistan and winning a key
order at NED Karachi. Landed key $6M order from Sikorsky Helicopter
against a well established, entrenched and much larger competitor (50 x
larger in revenue). Sales have increased from $1.8M to $10M in 5 years,
and have outpaced the capitalization capacity of the company at some level.
This job required me to build the sales organization from the ground up,
and participate on all levels to grow the business.
KEY COMPETANCES:
. Sales management, entrepreneurial instinct and leadership. I have
attained a high level of skill in sales leadership at all levels;
from mentoring younger sales engineers to leading a sales team on a
large integrated turn-key project. Furthermore, I can provide and
manage application engineering and a liaison with project management
and design staff.
. Ability to work with little sales support infrastructure, and to win
large orders from larger established companies in highly competitive
situations as the clear under dog. High degree of skill in
generating sales/marketing collateral, building proposals and
making/giving technical presentation to win orders. I have had good
understanding of both small and large company operations.
. Independent, competitive and self motivated. I work long hours and
enjoy building and managing a sales organization.
. Mechanical and servo hydraulic system conceptual design as related to
automotive, seismic and civil structural testing. Understand the
nuances required for system interaction with the test specimen, and
design details required for a realistic simulation test. Experience
related to specimen restraint and fixturing.
. High capacity to travel internationally and in 3rd world countries to
set up and support agents. Sold systems in China, Taiwan, Korea,
Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, UK, France (though out Europe).
. Control and Data acquisition system application, demonstration use
and training.
. Servo hydraulic systems level expert.
. Application knowledge of test control software.
. Experience in all aspects of automotive, aerospace and civil
engineering testing.
