Robert Matthew Goodro
Objective To obtain a position in Engineering Technology.
Engineering Oct 2009 - Present Neurobehavioral Research
Inc. Honolulu, HI
Experience Research Engineer
. I developed software for medical imaging analysis using Linux
script, c++, and NVIDIA's parallel computing architecture. I
also managed a project to identity and mask periventricular
white matter hyperintensities in MRIs of the brain,
furthering research efforts on how white matter
hyperintensities affect cognitive function.
Sep 2007 - Sep 2009 University of Oxford
Oxford, England
Research Student
. While working at the University of Oxford, I conducted
research projects in the heat transfer and fluid mechanics
disciplines including the separate effects of Mach number and
Reynolds number on impingement heat transfer, and the effects
of temperature ratio and jet spacing on impingement heat
transfer. I also studied the effects of hole spacing, hole
angle, Reynolds number, blowing ratio, density ratio, and an
accelerating flow field on full coverage film cooling. This
involved the design of new test facilities, coordination and
oversight of construction efforts, data collection and
processing with minimal external oversight. There was a
strong focus on technical writing and group presentations
throughout the project. My work resulted in the production of
one conference paper, three archival journal publications and
a final technical report to the research sponsor.
Aug 2006 - Dec 2006 University of Utah
Salt Lake City, UT
Teaching Assistant, Thermodynamics II
. I taught laboratory lectures separate from the main course,
conducted laboratory sessions, provided assistance to
students with laboratory work, course work, and provided
weekly supplementary lectures covering course material.
Apr 2004- Aug 2006 University of Utah
Salt Lake City, UT
Research Assistant
. I assisted in various research projects in the heat transfer
and fluid mechanics
disciplines including the effects of surface roughness on the
aerodynamic performance of a turbine vane, and the separate
effects of Mach number and Reynolds number on impingement
heat transfer. During this time I contributed to four
conference papers and three archival journal publications.
Apr 2003 - Mar 2004 Iraq Survey Group Camp
As Sayliya, Doha, Qatar
Digital Forensics Technician/Database Programmer
. I catalogued several hundred pieces of digital media,
extracted potential items of intelligence interest, and
prepared them for review by Arabic speaking translators. I
independently developed a Microsoft Access database for use
by the digital forensics team at the Combined Media
Processing Center, Doha Qatar that tracked over 16,000 pieces
of evidence, roughly 50,000 analysis tasks performed by 19
technicians over 10 months, and included 32 different reports
designed to meet requirements presented by the digital media
officer. I received the Joint Service Commendation Medal as
recognition for my efforts in database development and
digital media processing.
