Master of Science (M.S) in Renewable and Clean Energy
University of Dayton, Ohio, USA, (Graduated in Dec. 2010, GPA of 3.5)
Major Courses: energy efficiency, wind, solar and geothermal energy
systems, GIS, engineering economic analysis.
Master of Science in Waste Process Engineering (M.S in WASTE)
University of Stuttgart, Germany, (Graduated in 2005, GPA of 3.3)
Major Courses: air quality control, solid waste management, waste water
treatment, recycling
Research Interests: biomass gasification and combustion processes
Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering (Second Class Honors, Upper
Division)
Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana, (Graduated in
2001)
Professional Experience
University of Dayton, Ohio, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering (08/2009 -
12/2010)
Teaching Assistant and Graduate Fellowship Research Student
. Graded assignments and class projects, and ensured prompt submissions to
aid efficient class schedules.
. Evaluated the heating and cooling loads requirements of the Kettering Lab
building at UD, using HeatSim and eQUEST Program, and identified energy
saving opportunities.
. Performed energy audit and prepared a report for the Kurz-Kasch Inc. in
Dayton (class project).
. Initiated new research ideas and attracted funding to conduct 2 fantastic
studies:
> "Assessment of Wind Power Development in Auglaize County in Ohio,
using GIS and OpenWind Design Software". Presentation at UD attracted
suggestions which led to submission of the project report to Auglaize
County Commissioner's Office.
> "Investigating the Potential for Harnessing Thermal Energy from
Abandoned Oil and Gas Wells in Ohio using TRYSYS Simulation Software".
Presentation of research findings attracted large audience at the ASME
Dayton Engineering Sciences Symposium in October, 2010.
Kumasi Institute of Technology and Environment (KITE), Ghana (05/2006 -
08/2008)
. As a Project Officer was entrusted to develop projects aimed at promoting
and disseminating renewable and energy efficient technologies for
domestic and commercial applications. Efforts yielded positive business
results and contributed to increasing demand for solar lanterns, biogas
systems, efficient cooking technologies, and energy saving CFL bulbs.
. Based on my analytical and language skills, I represented KITE in April
2008, in the first all African Conference in Rwanda to discuss progress
towards the launching of the "Biogas For Better Life" project in Africa.
. Part of KITE team consulted and conducted the following research studies
aimed to influence national policy direction on promoting renewable
energy technologies in Ghana.
> Feasibility Study Report on Domestic Biogas in Ghana (KITE, 2008)
> "Survey of Non-Supply Cost of Electricity" during the 2006 power
crises in Ghana. A study conducted for the Ministry of Energy, as part
of the Power Distribution System Master Plan Study for Ghana", (KITE,
2007).
> "Catalogue and Review of Jatropha Initiatives for the Development of
Biofuel Industry in Ghana" (KITE, 2006).
> "Ghana Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Improvement Study". A Report
prepared for the World Bank Oil and Gas Policy Division, 2006.
Kurz Recycling GmbH, Germany (05/2003 - 10/2004)
. Internship and was delegated to keeping daily records of waste collected,
composition, sorted and recycled. Continued commitment rewarded my
efforts as the best Intern.
Volunteering & Extracurricular Activities
. Volunteered at Green Energy Ohio (GEO) since 07/2010 and assisted in
resource mobilization and promotion of the 2010 Ohio Solar Tour.
. Resource Person (social commentator) for Sahara Radio in Columbus, Ohio.
Reputed for excellent articulation of pertinent social and economic
issues affecting Africa.
