I am working on my Master’s degree in Accounting. Then once I have my degree, I want to sit for the
CPA exam. My GPA is a 4.0. I am a member of Cambridge Who’s Who (Honor Society). What are
some of the skills you are looking for in an employee? Are you looking for someone that is truly
diversified and flexible? Are you looking for someone that really knows what customer service is, or
someone that other employees can go to about problems and just talk? Do you truly want someone that
is capable of multi tasking and capable of wearing many hats, or just for one field? If so, you should
keep reading and consider me for the position of Office Manager.
I have worked with people in the customer service field for over 25 years. I’ve been a licensed
hairstylist for 25 years. So my encounters with them vary. I ran one of the busiest salons in Denver for 2
years which does require retail sales. I am very detail orientated. I started doing accounting in 1987 in
this salon. I had to teach it to myself because there was no one there to teach it to me. Had to track each
service that each stylist performed and each product they sold. I had to track all products that were sold
and control the entire inventory. I had to produce weekly, bi weekly and monthly reports, and perform all
payroll & payroll reports. And after that, I went to college and got my degrees. I have used a lot of
different software, and one my degree is in computers. I went from there. I worked at a hotel as their
night auditor. I was responsible for the daily bookkeeping. I had to balance the front desk, restaurant,
bar, lounge, and banquet department daily. I had to do cash/credit balancing. I had to research and
verify all posting to guest rooms and to hotel accounts. Any that could not be validated were corrected. I
have to verify all server paperwork. Generate financial reports for restaurant & bar, front desk, hotel,
alcohol tax, and phone reports. Generate tracking reports on inventory in restaurant. I was an office
manager for a construction company. And I also worked at a property management company that
owned 12 companies (commercial & residential). I had to do A/P, A/R, G/L, P/L, payroll, deposits &
bank reconciliations (30 accts prop. Mgmt comp), benefits, insurance, 401K, rent rolls, adjusting
journal entries, billing/invoicing, inner office/company billing & collections, 1099’s, research/verify
all invoices/receipts, financial reports, etc. With the prop mgmt comp, they were in 6 states, so had to
ensure that correct payroll taxes were being withheld and recorded. With both companies, I had to do
job cost accounting. I communicated with vendors. Set up payroll for an international company that
had employees in 6 countries. Prepare companies for selling and to be closed. The last property that I
worked at that I did accounting for was what was called a truck stop casino. They had a convenience
store, full service restaurant, and a casino. I generated all the revenue reports daily for the depts. (c
store, rest, & casino) and for the property along with all their paperwork and deposits. I had to balance
the safe. Ensure that the store had enough change in their safe for the day. I had to do payroll, enter
invoices into the PDI system, send packets to corp. offices, perform all HR functions, maintain all
employee files, maintain all licenses/certifications/permits for the departments and property,
ensure the PD system in the casino is fully loaded and that the vault has plenty of money, balance
the vault and all the servers/cashier paperwork daily, schedule maintenance/repairs/classes for
property, check in vendors/inventory for the departments. Due to absence of GM onsite, and the
property went through 3 of them in the 14 months that I was there. I was responsible for all GM duties
along with my own in their absence.
