Office of Construction - Primavera P6 Software application system administrator. 30%
I am responsible for approving new user requests for access to these software applications for the Office
of Construction, and coordinating with the Information Technology Division (ITD) to get the appropriate
NYSDOT AD accounts established with the correct privileges. I establish the Primavera user accounts
and assign the user the appropriate Security Privileges to various projects they are working on based on
the users work assignment role on the project.
I notify new users when their user account(s) have been created and provide them guidance on how to
access the applications, how to log-in, what their userID and passwords are, and how to navigate to
change user preferences and passwords.
When a construction contractor submits a CPM Progress Schedule (639 Item) for a DOT project, I copy
that schedule within the Enterprise database to the appropriate area for the State's Construction Inspection
staff to review the schedule. I perform a preliminary review of the schedule and email comments to the
Engineer in Charge for that project. I notify the EIC, the Construction Supervisor and Consultant CPM
Schedule reviewer that the schedule file is ready for a detailed review and forward the related documents
provided by the Contractor for their review.
For some construction contracts where a Consultant is not available to perform the detailed review of the
progress schedule, I perform the detailed review and provide my comments and recommendations to the
EIC.
I notify construction staff of scheduled maintenance to the software applications and databases. I
maintain a Outlook address book group for each software application that allow us to efficiently notify all
users of important issues.
Primavera P6 Training 30%
During formal classroom training sessions I serve as a facilitator to assist the consultant trainer, and
trainees. The training is provided to DOT construction personnel, consultant personnel and contractor
personnel, who are required to use the software applications for DOT projects where the work item is
included in their contracts. As a facilitator I am responsible for coordinating with ITD HelpDesk staff to
resolve an users problems related to network computer hardware or software issues, and providing
assisting to users so they keep up with the Instructor.
Primavera P6 is accessed through CITRIX in the field office and in the group training.
Primavera Help Desk Support 10%
When Statewide (DOT, consultant or contractor's) users have Primavera P6 or Contract Manager issues,
as a program area administrator, I resolve their issues. If I can't resolve it myself, I coordinate the
resolution with the appropriate staff in the information Technology Division, or with Oracle-Primavera
staff, and follow the problem to resolution.
I handle requests for user assistance through telephone calls, Outlook email messages, or HP Service
Manager tickets.
Construction Contract Time-Related Dispute Resolution 5%
When Contract disputes are due to a time-related delay issues, I am requested to review/analyze the
schedules and the Contractor's dispute documentation. I have to make recommendations within the
contractual terms with respect to: which party is responsible for the delay(s); if the delay(s) are excusable,
inexcusable, or non-critical; and what level of compensation (money and/or time) is appopriate.
Primavera P6 is the application used for analysis.
Contract Item Specification Development and Review 10%
I assist in the development and updating of the CPM Progress Schedule Specifications and Special Notes.
I also review the consultant's work in development of the Procedure Manuals that are being developed for
implementing Primavera P6 and Contract Manager.
Most documents are developed and reviewed in Microsoft Word.
Record Keeping 10%
I create and maintain status records of construction projects using P6 on our DOT Network. I update
email and phone records for P6 users and am responsible to notify users when maintanence is performed
on Loadspring or DOT servers that support our Primavera databases.
Records are maintained in Microsoft Excel and email and phone info for P6 users are maintained in a
Outlook Address Book.
Consultant training for Support & Training Assistance 5%
I train consultant staff in DOT policy with regard to CPM scheduling on our DOT network and our
LoadSpring server to assist in loading and reviewing schedules with conformance to our DOT
Specification for CPM Scheduling and to assist in Help Desk issues for Statewide Primavera
problems/requests.
Primavera P6 and Contract Manager and Outlook are used for this task.
Project Template Development 3%
I assist in developing project schedule templates that will be used by contractors in future project baseline
schedules for P6 at contract award.
Methodology Manager and Project Management (P6) are the applications I use to develop templates.
