HILLS FARMS< INC. 2004 to 2010
General Manager:
As a general manager I was in charge of all daily operations within the 8
sites belonging to the farm, including 4 gestation barns, 5 furrowing
houses, 3 nurseries, and a finishing farm with room for 65000 heads, a boar
stud of 195 boars, and a feed mill, that is alongside 4000 acres of land.
This farm rest in central Missouri and has the capability of housing 9000
producing saws producing anywhere in the range of 300 000 to 350 000 pigs a
year, but, we kept a constant flow of no less than 65000 to 70000 heads
within all the facilities.
In this position I was in charge of 8 full time managers, and 45 full time
employees.
And coordinating logistics between all the farm managers, according to the
needs of each facility, and made plans with each farm manager to improve
company goals.
Like keeping numbers profitable, feed management, health and biosecurity,
toxic and waste management, maintenance of all facilities, company vehicles
and machinery, was also in charge of all emergency situations, like power
outages, and all other weather related emergencies and health problems,
also did all the computer, paperwork and record keeping,(pig champ) also
implemented and enforce all company rules and regulations, hiring and
interviewing of new prospects, also promoted new managers according to
their experience and qualifications, and training them properly according
to company regulations.
2001 to 2003
HUMAN RESOURCES, LOGISTICS:
In 2002, I was transferred to Human resources, in this department I was in
charge of recruiting and retaining new employees, doing all the pertinent
paperwork, I was also in charge or training all new employees,
(Orientation), and on the field training according to each department
guidelines.
I created an official company book based on my training on the farm, and
it became pretty much guidelines and company rules and regulations.
In 2003 I was given the position of farm manager.
1996 to 2001
BREEDING AND FARROWING MANAGER
In this position I was in charge of all daily operations within the
breeding and gestation barns
coordinated the daily flow to the furrowing units, according to the
gestation period, also did all heat checking, breeding by AI, foam and
spirex, also did all the vaccinations, feeding adjustments according to the
gestation period of the saws, introduction and selection of new gilts to
the herd, and culling according to age, condition, or number of pigs
produced by the saw. Also did all record keeping and all pertinent
paperwork.
I am proud to say, that thanks to my patience and tenacity I achieve a high
percentage of positive pregnancy as to 92 per cent within a group. Never
seem before on this farm.
In the furrowing department I was in charge of all daily operations, from
washing saws to power washing, also did all the labor and delivery, up to
inducing, vaccinations, processing, temperature adjustments to avoid health
issues, feed adjustments according to saw consumption, and all other daily
chores
In the furrowing department, we achieve great numbers like 44 heads saw per
year, due to the methodically program on place and the fact that we had a
great staff of ladies on this department
I also created a new program to cross train both departments, cause I felt
the need for both breeding and furrowing to be familiar with each other
departments.
