Work Experience
Estimator / Project Manager - For a General Contractor in Commercial,
Industrial, Medical Facilities and Multi-Family Construction. Projects
Range from $250,000 to $30,000,000. Schimpf Construction, Inc.,
November 2003 to December 2010.
Responsibilities - Secure Bid Bonds and Construction Documents,
distribute documents to sub-contractors and suppliers, Quantity take-off
of labor, equipment and material for estimating development and bid analysis.
Secure pricing from sub-contractors / suppliers to finalize and prepare
quotes for bid openings. Provide operation planning, project scheduling,
material procurement, review contracts / supplier purchase orders and shop
drawing submittals. Attend Pay/Progress Meetings, handle problems that arise
and provide / process changes in work or change orders.
Projects - Some of the projects include: SIH Hospitals in Herrin, Carbondale and Murphysboro,
IL.
School construction - New schools, additions and renovations.
Dental Offices in the Mid-west (Heartland Dental, Inc.) Restaurant - free standing
and renovations. Multi-family Housing / Student Housing at Southern Illinois
University. Car Dealerships, Retail Offices and Medical Offices. Renovation to
the SIU-C Saluki Way project, which was the renovation and addition to the arena,
new football stadium and surrounds.
Site Observer / Field Engineer - Employed by Lunsford / Baysinger Architects and
Engineers. Duties included: Inspection for quality control, project coordination and scheduling,
review of shop drawing submittals, pay request and change order
proposals. Projects included 3 new schools for Massac Co. School District.
Brookport Elementary School, Massac County Junior High School and Metropolis
Elementary School. March 2000 to October 2003. All school projects were completed
On time and within budget.
Site Superintendent - Ran on-site construction operations including lay-out,
scheduling of projects, project coordination, securing labor, material and
equipment as needed. Review time sheets and material cost for budget controls.
Projects include: School addition to Harrisburg West Side School and projects
with the State Of Illinois Capital Development Board (CDB). Project locations
were at Dixon Springs State Park and Horseshoe Lake. June 1998 to March 2000.
H&N Construction and Erwin Builders.
Construction Manager - Huff Architectural Group: Duties include management of
project from design stage to final completion. Review documents, finalize bid
packages, send notices to contractors / suppliers, secure bids and pricing, process
RFI questions, change orders, negotiated deducts and shop drawing submittals.
Ran pay/progress meetings, provided scheduling, quality control, project coordination
and close-out documents. Newton Elementary School Addition, Newton IL.
September 1997 to June 1998.
Field / Project Engineer - Korte Construction, Highland, IL. Duties include estimating,
assisting in bid process, reviewing shop drawing submittals, scheduling and contractor
coordination, keep daily work-force logs and process change orders. Projects include:
Gateway International Raceway - Metro-East St. Louis, and Effingham High School,
Effingham, IL. January 1997 to September 1997.
Carpenter - Buckingham Construction - Residential Contractor - assisted in building
homes and additions. Run on-site work, secured material, coordination and scheduling
of sub-contractors. April 1995 to May 1996.
Coal Miner - Zeigler Coal Company and Old Ben Coal Company. Benton, IL
Worked in all phases of under-ground coal mining, with most of work in the production
area or working face area. Experience in three types of mining methods, including
conventional mining, continuous miners and long wall mining. Operated several
types of underground equipment including: long wall shear, long wall jacks,
continuous miner, roof bolter, shuttle car, ram car, scoop and diesel cars / tractors.
Preformed work on underground conveyor belt systems, dewatering systems, power
moves, ventilating systems, light maintenance and sectional set-up. Obtained State
of Illinois Mine Face Papers and Mine Examiner Papers. Served as a member of the Mine
Rescue Team and received yearly training in First Aid, CPR and Mine Rescue.
