Offshore Revenue Accounting Controls Developer (2004-2005)

Responsible for developing a standardized accounting controls framework

utilized by up to 35 people. The framework included appropriate levels of

risk mitigation, SOX requirements, provisions for continuous updates,

templates for specific product/pipeline/platform/field monthly recordings

and departmental self-audits, and online/hard copy reference repositories

of working spreadsheets, training, regulatory, and policy documents for

ongoing staff coverage, development and succession planning.

. Hosted an Alabama Severance Tax audit for 2001-2004.

Prepared/successfully defended a $700K reduction to the state audit

assessment of $960K.

. Designed a complex excel database to compute/report Alabama severance

taxes. Received an award for this effort.

Offshore Revenue Accounting Supervisor (2001-2003)

Supervised 5 accountants who recorded/valued oil and gas production for

several deepwater and shelf properties and platforms with annual revenues

totaling $700mln.

. Realigned team workload to ensure good staff development and work/life

. Streamlined income fluctuation and accounts payable/receivable

Project Accountant (1996-1997, 1999-2001)

Supported 10 engineering managers responsible for the manufacturing

oversight of international electrical, systems integration, switchgear,

compressor and control panel projects; finalized billings from 5 project

accountants for firm price, percent complete, cost plus, and time and

material jobs; forecasted and recognized revenue/costs, reconciled

actual/committed costs; calculated/paid commissions to foreign agents;

handled all foreign letters of credit; and trained engineers on time,

material and expense coding to jobs.

. Initiated the practices of advising management on proper sales/use tax

applications for proposals and billings, and highlighted potential cost

overruns for early circumvention.

Accounting System Implementation Team Member (1997-1999)

One of a 3-person team tasked to implement a Great Plains accounting

Supervised 12 staff responsible for annual cash disbursements totaling

$400mln and the 1099 reporting function; reviewed sales/use tax audits to

negotiate reductions of assessed taxes and identify potential refunds;

restructured work assignments for cross training and staff development; and

established enhancements to improve internal controls and reduce staff,

central processing unit, and online storage costs.

. Streamlined the check write review/distribution function saving 50 man-

hours a week.

. Persuaded vendors to significantly reduce the number of invoices sent for

processing.

. Saved the company $3.5mln in sales/use taxes by researching/applying tax

exclusions/exemptions to vendor invoices.
