Staff nurse for hospital medical surgical settings. Perform Patient assessment,
pre-op prep, lab analysis, venipuncture, access central venous device,
administer IV and oral medications, and communicate pertinent findings to MD.
Worked on medical-surg/oncology unit with patients with various oncology
Diagnosis, breast mass s/p fine needle aspiration and punch biopsy, oral
cancer(dorsal tongue), mucositis, receiving nourishment via GTT, stage IV lung
cancer with metastasis to multiple organs, exacerbation of crohns disease,
ovarian cancer complicated by bowel obstruction and ascites, Aids with history of
lymphoma, thrombocytopenia receiving oral platlet growth factor. Adminstration
of IVAB therapy for resistant and opportunist organisms, methotrexate for severe
rheumatoid arthritis and leucorvorin. Maintained Isolation precautions due to
leukopenia. Received and monitoring of patients post procedure for
complications, paracentesis, thoracentesis, insertion of central venous access
device, dialysis following acute onset renal failure. Perform venipuncture for
ordered labs, blood cultures, insertion of peripheral IV. Access medi-ports, TLC,
and PICC lines for blood specimens and medication administration.

Telephonic management of 10 facilities with sub-acute/physical rehab/LTC and
palliative care units. Act as resource for nurses, provide medical managegment
of patients after office hours. Verify re- admission orders, address abnormal labs,
order diagnostic test when indicated, CXR, CT scan, and Doppler studies.
Address fluid and hydration needs based on labs, Coumadin management, Treat
exacerbation of chronic conditions HTN, COPD, Diabetes. Order transfer to
hospital when warranted. Communicate pertinent medical information needing
physician follow-up to physicians.
07/28/2005 – 4/23/2010 FutureCare Health and Management
On site for 110 bed sub- acute/LTC/ palliative care facility. Address episodic
illness, perform physical assessment, and establish differential diagnosis and
treatment plan with ongoing collaboration with MD. Attend weekly wound rounds,
with medical director, determine TX for wounds, write TX orders. Symptom
management of end stage conditions following Cancer tx, diarrhea, mucositis,
non-healing surgical wound, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, address pain,
infection. Assist transition to palliative care for patients with end stage illness,
AIDS CHF, cancer. Attend interdisciplinary meetings to discuss patient needs.
Attend family meetings to discuss patient health status, advance directives
options. Act as resource for nurses in management of complex patients.
Discharge management of patients returning home. Prescriptive authority.
Management of CVAD, ports, Piccs when needed.
