Intern
Accountable for experimenting on new methodologies for the fabrication of X-
ray absorbers which will be used in the IXO telescope set to launch in
2021.
Selected materials which possessed the highest quantum efficiency by
utilizing in-depth knowledge of material science, physics, and the X-ray
database.
Analyzed results by a scanning electron microscope and recommended
solutions for the enhancement of fabricating sharp-edged X-ray absorbers.
Completed Photolithography process, using two types of photoresists, by
manipulating the experimental variable of time. Applied copper, bismuth,
niobium and aluminum metal layers on the silicon wafers using a CVC
sputtering machine and electron beam machines.
Measured the thickness of silicon wafer before and after deposition of
metal layers with a profilometer. Maintained the purity of the silicon
wafers using a chemical bath and chemicals such as methanol/acetone.
Presented a detailed report and presentation on the project findings at the
end of the internship.
