of a bi-directional Ku band Antenna System for high data rate services

aboard aircraft namely KuStream 1000, and DBS Antenna pedestal and

supporting RF components. Supported individual LRU (Antenna Control

unit, and Satellite Antenna Assembly) design from concept to production.

Specific Responsibilities

. Top level electrical design and RF component selection

o Perform detail design of Power, Digital & Analog circuits to

board and product level.

o Evaluate and select components to meet environmental and

reliability requirements. These components include but not

limited to Motors, Encoders, Digital servo drives, Power

modules, and EMI filters.

o Responsible for troubleshooting at system and board level.

o Generate RF budget analysis for Receive, and Transmit path to

ensure proper selection of RF components i.e. RF cables, RF

rotary joints, RF connectors.

o Designed and built RF waveguide skew module/ motor drive.

o Manage and generate documentation for all electrical, and RF

hardware. These documents include but not limited to, top

level wiring diagram, wire harnesses, top level schematic of

system, detailed schematic of boards, Bill of Materials

o Worked closely with Board Layout Consultant to ensure board

layout and documentation met design criteria.

o Responsible to design to meet all DO-160E EMI requirements

specifically Radiated and Conducted Emission Radiated

Susceptibility, and Current Harmonics

. Responsible for Field testing of EMI per DO-160E of LRU's at EMI

labs, and troubleshooting to ensure passing with minimal design

change.

. Support Sales and Marketing and participate in Preliminary and

Critical Design Reviews with customers.

. Generate ATP and interface with production to ensure product is

testable and passing. Worked closely with manufacturing personnel

to ensure ramp cycle of product was smooth.

. Supported customer with RMA and root cause of failure analysis.

Designed an RF signal strength indicator (RSSI) for VSAT applications

using discrete packaged components i.e. frequency synthesizers, mixers,

filters, gain blocks, and power detectors.

o Simulated complete RF design on Microwave Office AWR to ensure

proper performance and spec compliance. Performed spur and

power level analysis.

o Generated schematic, BOM, board layout using RF layout

techniques, and generated all appropriate documentation,

including Gerber files.

o Designed housing, and shield enclosure to ensure proper

operation at RF frequencies.

o Interacted closely with customer to ensure schedule and

performance were understood.

Mica-Tech Inc. Camarillo, CA (March 2004 - October 2006)

Microwave Engineer

Responsible for all phases of RF, and Analog design at the system and

component-level for USAT communication applications. Designed, built,

and tested RF transmitters, and receivers for Satellite systems in the

range of 12-14.5 GHz. Programmed Microcontrolers using Pic Basic to

operate Phase Lock Loops, and Digital Synthesizers to create clean low

Phase Noise Signals crucial for a good system.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

. Design and prototype build, Low Noise Amplifiers (up to 12.25 GHz),

Microstrip filters, Power Splitter, Power amplifiers, and Mixers

(up to 14.5 GHz.)

. Simulate all designs using Genesys, Appcad, or Electronics

Workbench.

. Design and layout of multiple layer RF PWB using Genesys. Non RF

PWB used Orcad.

. Designed and test complex machined shields to prevent EMI/RFI

radiation and susceptibility and generated drawings using AutoCAD.

. Responsible for the transition of product, from design to

production setup and training.

. Supervise production technician for proper assembly and testing of

RF and electrical boards.

. Generate detailed documentation for production and document

control. These documents included:

o Electrical Specs.

o Schematics (Orcad), BOM, Drawings, and Gerber files for PWB.

o Test and Assembly procedures.

o Engineering Change Orders.

. Additional responsibilities include design and build production

tooling to expedite the testing of RF, and IF boards.

. Participate in milestone review.

Andrew Micropulse Inc. Camarillo, CA (March 200 -December 2003)

Microwave Engineer (level II), Project Engineer

Responsible for the design, development, and production of multiple

antennas, and RF products. These products include:

o High performance ultra low-noise amplifier used in Global

Positioning Systems for L1, L2 frequencies for surveying

antennas.

o Multi linear array base station antennas used at frequencies of

5GHz

o Stack patch antennas used in Global Positioning Systems for the

Military

o Next generation cost-reduced low-noise amplifier used in

automotive Global Positioning Systems.

o High rejection Low Noise Amplifier used in Timing Antennas.

o Optimize pillbox shaped Antenna, and polarizer to meet customer

specs used in the tracking, and communication with Vehicles.

. Used several simulation packages to aid in the design of antennas,

and low noise amplifier. These simulations include Zealand IE3D,

PCAD, and Eagle ware RF and Microwave Design software.

. Performed antenna radiation pattern measurements in anechoic chamber.

. Worked closely with manufacturing, and designed tools, and methods

to reduce production cost, and reliability of goods.
