of sachet, pouch making and cartooning machines by increasing their
speeds

Packaging Development Manager, (Personal Products) 4/03 - 9/06
. Led R&D in packaging for Personal Products Category (shampoos, creams,
lotions, face washes, toothpaste & deodorants), provided technical
support for consumer brand activations, and participated in innovation
strategies for brand development
. Generated product costing scenarios for commercial and technical
feasibility. Selected suppliers and products to either manufacture or
import using strategic decision making. Achieved improvements in
Product Gross Profit. Collaborated with the Unilever "Regional
Development Team ( Asia)" for business and technical harmonization
. Engineered new and revised product packaging for Personal Products.
Conducted Product packaging plant trials and transit trials. Carried
out technical analysis using appraisal techniques for new and existing

. Process optimization & specification guidance: Carried out packaging
specs writing on Interspec. Provided technical support for product
launch and roll-out at both the suppliers' and own factories. Completed
many projects for continuous improvement of products & processes
. Re-launched Fair & Lovely cream. Project completed in six months time
at a cost of USD 2 million including the investment in machines at
supplier's end as well as at the Unilever Plant. Developed injection
and injection-blow moulds with Korean mould maker. Helped the supplier
in the selection and procurement of the Hot Foil Stamping machines from
a Korean manufacturer after approval of machine trials
. The above project gave me an opportunity to work in a truly cross
functional team which was named as the brand business team. Worked very
closely with the marketing team members to finalize the designs of new
packaging formats. Worked very closely with the finance and buying team
members to get the lowest possible prices for packaging materials and
hence the desired Gross Margins. The real challenge in this project was
to coordinate with so many people who were located in so many different
countries, yet ensuring that all the committed quantities of the
finished product were delivered to the market at the agreed timelines
and as per Unilever Quality standards (OTIF).
. Re-launched Lifebuoy shampoo Herbal and Anti-Dandruff bottles & sachets
. In 3 years & 9 months at this position, I re-launched Sunsilk shampoo
and close-up tooth paste twice. In addition to this I also helped
launch many new products /SKU'S/ Variants like F&L anti-marks, F&L oil
control gel, Sunsilk Silky Straight, Sunsilk Fruitamin, Sunsilk dry and
damaged, Pond's 8ml and 30ml cold cream jars, Pond's moisturizing &
sunscreen lotion bottles and many others

. Managed contractors (civil, electrical, mechanical) at the plant
. Supervised and coached a permanent staff of 10 fitters and looked after
the maintenance of packing machines and process equipment
