Production Supervisor II

Led and directed manufacturing operations on multiple shifts using my broad

based technical experience of processes such as die casting, stamping,

turning, powder coat, assembly, tool room, and lean process controls.

Directly managed over forty full time and temporary non-exempt associates

across multiple disciplines. Implemented coaching and training programs to

develop staff, improve efficiencies, and improve performance. Assigned

limited resources to meet daily production demands and addressed

constraints to ensure steady product flow. I stressed firm adherence to

safety and quality control procedures.

Selected Contributions:

> Lowered Stamping Defects Per Million (DPM) from 3500 to 1850 by

leading a Continuous Improvement (CI) team where we developed several

actions including "Best Practices" for press operators, press roller

maintenance to improve quality, and an audit process to ensure

compliance.

> Led two Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) events that improved

machine up time and reduced set-up time. Improved the feed on the 60

Ton press and modified tooling on the Peer Welder for quick fixture

exchange

> Achieved a 20% output increase by developing and sustaining a pit-crew

type set-up reduction effort on the automatic line in powder coat.

> Led Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) kaizen event on 60 ton

presses that reduced set-up time by 40%. This was accomplished by

identifying internal and external procedures in the set-up that

reduced press down time between jobs.

> Improved scheduled customer delivery rate by 10% by refocusing

attention on quality fundamentals, rate awareness (strokes per

minute), and sustaining 5S/lean manufacturing processes. I spend as

much time as possible on shop floor to coach correct procedures and

positive team building behaviors.

> Approved departmental operations and tooling expenditures with annual

budget of $700,000.

> Provided each direct report with an individualized development plan.

Trained many new employees/ temps on standard work documents, lean

principles, and company procedures. Always completed comprehensive

Performance Appraisals on time.

Production Supervisor

Directed and optimized my crew in the "hot end" process (batch house,

furnace, tin bath) of float glass production. Coordinated with other

supervisors and engineers to ensure desired quality and yield objectives

were met. I supervised a crew of over ten production people.

Selected Contributions:

> Pulled the first ribbon of glass at facility start-up.

> One of a few original production supervisors during start up of the

new 800,000-sq/ft facility. Interviewed over two hundred applicants

and trained new hot end production operators.
