PROFILE
Hands on Professional with 20 plus years experience as a safety & health manager, training manager, and
safety advisor at chemical sites, manufacturing firms and utilities in the US. My career has a proven track
record in performance and productivity improvement, infrastructure development, and implementation of

Industrial Safety Advisor, V. C. Summer Nuclear, Jenkinsville, SC 05/07 Present
• At the Summer Station I am an Industrial Safety Advisor. My work at the Summer Plant is a unique challenge
with attention given to an operating nuclear plant and the construction of 2 new nuclear plants. In my duties I
am responsible for job reviews and daily functions involving safety in job planning at the site. These
responsibilities require strategic planning of upcoming jobs and interface with the workforce, management
personnel and members of the professional staff regarding industrial safety. In addition I act as subject matter
expert for updates to procedures and training to meet OSHA, EPA, South Carolina regulatory requirements
and company policy. I also carry out job safety analysis (JSA) reviews for construction, modifications and
routine maintenance activities at the facility. I developed the site’s Safety Manual (and maintain all updates)
and I am responsible for the daily safety briefs to the station’s employees. Further responsibilities are Job
Hazard Analysis prior to specific high risk procedures and Root Cause Investigations conducted when
incidents occur. I act as a member of the plant’s Emergency Response Organization (ERO) for Industrial
Safety & Health and work on emergency response protocol planning. In my position I handle OSHA 300
Worker Accident cases and work with the facility’s workers compensation insurance carrier to mitigate and
investigate accident cases.
Previous Experience
Industrial Safety Manager, Callaway Nuclear Plant, Fulton, Missouri. 02/07 05/07
While contracted at Callaway Plant my title was Contract Safety Manager at the facility. I managed the site’s Safety
Department during their refueling and maintenance outage. My assignment incorporated the review of training
materials, procedures and programs to assure compliance with federal, state and corporate requirements. To meet
goals and policy I became a member of the facility’s Oversight Management Team. The functions of this position
required my interface with members of management from the Maintenance, Operations, and Human Resources
Department. My functions required work with contract, union, company employees, legal, and associated
department management to analyze and implement corrective actions to plant programs. During this assignment I
also became the Contractor Employee Concerns Manager responsible for Safety Conscious Work Environment
policy development and implementation. As the Concerns Manager I became a member of the Review Team
regarding investigations, disciplinary actions and acted as a moderator to resolve conflicts.
Senior Safety Consultant, V. C. Summer Plant, Jenkinsville, South Carolina. 10/06 11/06
Duties at the Summer Plant were Senior Safety Consultant responsible for industrial safety activities during a major
modification project. Program assessments pertaining to training needs for equipment modifications were
conducted and in field job analysis of programs performed. Procedures and policies regarding regulatory
compliance were reviewed and upgrades to the training curriculum implemented. Additional functions were
coordination of all work with department managers to meet the strict completion deadlines. Trade personnel were
trained in mock up scenarios for implementation of safety practices prior to work activities. As Senior Consultant my
primary function incorporated all areas of safety compliance for the multi million dollar upgrade.
Project Consultant, D.C. Cook Nuclear Plant, Bridgman, Michigan. 08/06 10/06
My responsibilities at the site were Project Safety Manager responsible for safety practices during
maintenance and operations tasks. This assignment involved scheduling, establishment of
goals and deadlines, maintaining project training records and employee supervision.
Training for specialty tasks requiring mock up scenarios to conduct jobs safely and according to
policy was done under my management, on the job training with work
crews was conducted, and Conduct of Operations policies implemented requiring direct interface
with all departments. On the job critiques for employee and management concerns were
conducted and briefings held in formal departmental meetings with regulatory and company
management. These responsibilities required supervision of projects working
under Confined Space Permits, Lockout/Tag Out Permits and Fall Protection guidelines.
Senior Team Auditor, Idaho National Labs, Idaho Falls, Idaho. 07/06 08/06
At the Lab I functioned as Senior Team Auditor for the Advanced Mixed Waste Treatment Project, Independent
Safety Management System (ISMS) Audit Team. I conducted assessments of the Industrial Safety Programs at the
Lab for federal contract requirements by in field observations, procedure review, and training material and
classroom reviews for a Phase I Inspection at the project. Input on assessment analysis was reported to the
National Labs Management Team, along with corrective actions for upgrades in their programs found during this
audit.
S & H Compliance Manager, Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant, Paducah, KY. 12/1991 12/05
Duties at the Paducah facility incorporated Training, Compliance and Safety & Health Management. The
responsibilities for this position included:
1. Management of programs for safety & health which included development of procedures, policy and
training pertaining to plant safety policies. This involved the use of OSHA Regulations, DOE Orders,
NRC Reports and Regulations, EPA Mandates, and facility requirements.
2. Compliance with all federal regulations and state regulations were under my department’s responsibilities.
In this role audits and self assessments were done by my team on plant Conduct of Operations and on
the job practices.
Duties for this position required the management of salaried, professional, Health Physics, and hourly (union
employees). Procedures were developed and then the training for the procedural guidance was developed and
conducted for the sight.
The procedural guidance and training in these areas were a first for the plant. This transition was deemed
acceptable by the federal regulatory agencies and the plant was granted Certification under the NRC.
In addition to tasks mentioned above, during my tenure as S & H Compliance Manager several multi million dollar
projects were assigned to my group:
1. A Safety Advisor Project was implemented where I managed a team of experienced safety contractors to
work side by side with the plant workforce to aid in the transition to strict procedural compliance.
2. A Safety Upgrade Project was also given to me where seismic modifications were done at the facility
while the plant was still in operation. This entailed all permits from Hot Work Permit, Lockout Tagout,
Confined Space, and Electrical to be written and implemented by my team for this assignment. All OSHA
300 Records were maintained and work practices strictly monitored during this job under my
management.
