Metallurgical Engineer

Managed all functions of metallurgical laboratory and supervised up to 15 lab technicians in a plant

manufacturing Tungsten Carbide parts by powder metallurgy process. Duties included all aspects of

metallurgical lab operation, equipment calibration for ISO compliance, keeping production departments

informed with daily results/problems and suggesting corrective actions.

Reorganized and integrated three labs into one by cross-training laboratory technicians in ASTM compliant

testing procedures, eliminating 17% of manpower and related over-time expense, saving $150K/yr.

Initiated a rejected-material salvage process utilizing extra heat treatments, potential savings $90K.

Invented powder-property improvement process, increasing potential yield by 50% and saving $3M/yr.

into landfill.

Added sawdust into plastic remains, thereby removing waste from local sawmill that was formerly dumped
