.2/98-02/02 Extendicare Corp.
Dayton/Springfield
I was originally hired by this company to open
a new
facility. We opened with a deficiency-free
survey and quickly
filled with a high quality mix. Once the
facility was stable, I
was asked to take over a troubled building who
was in high
agency use and whose census was suffering. I
successfully
eliminated the use of agency and worked with
my department to
rebuild the reputation and census of our
facility. I also handled my
department's staff development tasks and led
the facility through
consistently excellent state surveys. I
trained other Directors of
Nursing to successfully manage hours of labor
and how to work
within a given budget and to work within the
limitations of the
current Medicare system while still maximizing
profit and
delivering needed services to the
residents. I managed the facility in
the absence of the Administrator.
06/92-12/97 Heartland of Springfield (H.C.R. Corp.), Springfield, Ohio
I controlled the day to day operations of the Nursing
Department including budgets, survey compliance, policy
formation, clinical practices and managing the facility in
the absence of the Administrator. I cased managed with
major insurance carriers thus providing appropriate length
of stay and highly successful patient outcomes and quality
census mix. I successfully led the facility through a
Joint Commission initial survey, achieving a 98% compliance
score. I served as Captain of a Quality Assurance team,
traveling to other facilities and leading an
interdisciplinary team through mock surveys. I assisted
members of the team to produce updated and superior Q.A.
guidelines, which I then passed on to other facilities as I
worked with them on survey preparation and outcomes
management. I also wrote the mock process that was used
during these surveys. I was a member of an intra-
corporation committee to develop new systems for the
improvement of recruitment and retention. I frequently
traveled to other facilities to assist with survey
preparation, management, and recovery while maintaining
excellent standards at my own facility.
