Electrophoresis), light and electron microscopes, safety techniques,
pipetting, and data analysis.
. Computer: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Medisoft
(medical database) proficiency; familiar with company computer systems
required by various jobs including Frost Bank and the allelic
discrimination software used in the Ahuja lab.
. Clerical skills: Expertise of multi line telephone systems, faxes,
front desk management, etc.

Research Intern Summer 2009
The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio
. Worked in Dr. Sunil Ahuja's labs of the UTHSCSA's Division of
Infectious Disease in research focusing on the genetic aspect of HIV
susceptibility. Performed various tasks and learned to use the
specific equipment and procedures required for allelic discrimination
including polymerase chain reaction and gel electrophoresis. Became
familiar with using the PCR machine. Researched independently the
role of a promising gene, the RANTES gene, in HIV susceptibility and
disease progression. Gave a presentation over results at the end of
the summer.

St. David's Medical Center (Austin, TX)
. Student volunteer in the St. David's Women's Health Resource Center
and 3-East Nursing Floor.
. Attended the 2009 Spring Volunteer Orientation and gained information
about St. David's Hospital mission, patient care, and information for

. Filed patient lab records and helped wheel patients down to various
locations within the hospital.
. Performed a variety of receptionist, clinical, and patient care duties
