DIRECTOR OF MARKETING & PUBLIC RELATIONS: Roane State Community College -
1999-2007
Directed and supervised a staff of six in areas of work including: media
relations, video, broadcast and print advertising, graphic design and
printing services. Planned and managed four different budgets and an
annual advertising campaign, including web-based content. Worked with site
directors at seven remote locations in a 10-county service area to
coordinate their promotional and advertising efforts. Served as a member
of the college's administrative council and chair of the marketing
committee, which coordinated web presence.
DIRECTOR OF PUBLICATIONS: Maryville College - 1993-1999
Directed the production of numerous college periodicals, including annual
scholarly teaching journal, president's publications and the college's
monthly newsletter. Supervised student publications (yearbook, newspaper
and literary magazine). Served as a member of the advancement team planning
and executing events such as Founder's Day, Homecoming and Commencement.
Served on campus committees: the planning and budget advisory committee,
computer advisory committee, integrated marketing group, website task force
and communications committee.
VARIOUS COMMUNICATION POSITIONS: Jacobs - 2009-Present
Community Relations - TVA Ash Recovery Project, Kingston
Provided community relations services for cleanup of the TVA ash spill -
from media relations to internal communications to planning and
implementation of special events, website content and public meetings.
Proposal Writer/Coordinator - Jacobs Federal Operations, Oak Ridge
Write/edit for a variety of business proposals to support Jacobs Federal
Operations sales team.
DIRECTOR: American Cancer Society - 2007-2009
Directed and supervised a staff of 11 in areas of work including:
fundraising, health initiatives and event planning including a gala, a golf
tournament and 20 Relay For Life events. Managed budget and purchasing for
Knoxville office and worked closely with local board.
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF PUBLICATIONS: East Tennessee Children's Hospital -
1989-1991
Oversaw production of all hospital publications. Duties included writing,
editing, photography, supervision of interns and freelance personnel as
well as close interaction with hospital administration, physicians, and
visiting dignitaries, patients and their families. Participated in
planning, promoting and implementing special events such as the Children's
Miracle Network Telethon and Fantasy of Trees.
