Relevant Experience
NCSU Nonwovens Co-operative Research Center Research Project ; July 2008 – July
2010
Researching the effects of hydroentangling and nozzle parameters on HDPE nonwoven fabric
properties. Analysis involved tensile, tongue tear, porosity, air permeability, and hydrostatic head
tests, as well as SEM imaging, statistical analysis, acoustic impedance, and image analysis.
Accomplishments:
Masters Thesis

Course Projects
Product Development of nonwoven anti-allergen bedcover Spring 2009
• Used bi-component island-in-sea fibers composed of different combinations of Nylon, PET,
and PLA to make a nonwoven anti-allergen bed cover. Hydroentangling jets were used to
fibrillate the fibers for greater surface area. Fabrics were evaluated for tensile strength, tear
strength, air permeability, pore size, and wear resistance.
Skills Developed: Testing Selection, Presentations, Project Proposals

Product Development of portable heated blanket Fall 2008
• Specific focus on developing a portable heated blanket for wheelchair occupants
Skills Developed: Co-op with MBA, Market Research, Cost Analysis, Teamwork
Six Sigma process improvements within World Cat Corporation Spring 2007
• Used Six Sigma principles and tools to analyze areas of improvement for World Cat boats.
Skills Developed: Six Sigma Analysis including JMP software use
Recycling applications of waste elastane fibers Spring 2008
• Researched using solvents, heat, and pressure to transform chopped off-quality elastane fibers
into an elastane nonwoven that resembled a solid piece of rubber that maintained the
elongation and tensile strength properties of the original elastane fibers.
Skills Developed: Team Leadership, Experimental Design and Analysis,(Humility)
