. Major personal contributions to the company were recruiting new

Awarded Directorship and equity in recognition for contributions and
successes as the company was facing insolvency when I joined and upon
leaving it was independently valued at 12 million. Resigned due to a pre-
negotiated employment equity plan when the business was sold to a Black
Empowerment Group (South African politics enforce the employment of non-
whites ahead of whites).

. Managed two manufacturing and distribution companies (electronic
ballasts and telephone metering devices).
. Increased telephone meter sales by 140% mainly through regional
product promotion and product awareness with our main customer. This
entailed regional 'road shows', presentations, site visits, installing a
small call centre and regular meetings with key players (Product Managers
and Heads of Technical Departments).
. Conceptualized a new metering product (BuroMeter) and completed this
electronic design and development project over three years and secured a
12 million supply contract.
. Wrote and defined an ISO 9001 quality management system and secured
certification.
. Managed all 15 staff and the contracted electronic design
contractors.
. Liquidated the electronic ballast company after 18 months of trading due
to poor viability.
