Associate Director October 2007 - June 2010

Administer prestigious, 40-year-old scholarship and leadership development
program for undergraduates. Develop and implement recruiting strategy, and
direct application and interview processes. Train all members of selection
committee, including chancellor, dean, faculty, CEOs and alumni. Serve as
deadline-oriented manager of business and financial operations, including
purchase negotiations, accounts receivable, accounts payable and contract
management. Advise student leaders in planning service-learning and
cultural immersion expeditions to domestic and international locations,
such as Mexico and Eastern Europe; accompany students on such trips to
provide further guidance and leadership. Supervise event planning,
including monthly dinner series. Cultivate alumni and donor relationships
through strategic outreach. Engage in limited fundraising by researching,
cultivating and soliciting prospects. Direct development of program Web
sites and serve as Webmaster. Key accomplishments include:
. Led vision for and spearheaded development of a single online software
package to fuse two functions: 200 candidates submitting applications and
a 125-person selection network evaluating them

scholarship program. Guest lectured on historical leadership for business

chairpersons and 160 volunteers. Managed dozens of events statewide for
selection process, including training for alumni and faculty in application
and candidate evaluation. Guided students in planning enrichment
activities, including in-state and out-of-state trips. Arranged use of
corporate headquarters (e.g. Capital One, Wachovia) for interview events.
Key accomplishments include:
. Led N.C. recruiting and out-of-state visits, increasing application rate
