Project Name: AIMS Select Agent Changes.
Client : State Farm Insurance Companies, Bloomington, USA
Role : Lead Developer Team Size : 20
The Select Agent Program encourages the State Farm agents for growing
the business. A set of bonus is given to the agents for certain
benchmark goals and meets the requirement of the Program. The system
is designed to track the agents business under the Agency field
office. This gives the Snapshot of the progress of the Business. The
scorecard has designed with a set of categories to qualify the agents
for tracking the business. Each category is having a set of benchmark
goals. A bonus is paid to the agent based on the benchmark goals.
This project is an enhancement of the existing Application area
software. This involves adding new on-line screens and also
significant changes to the existing Online screens in the system. In
addition to this, new BATCH PROCESSING is written as part of the
project to qualify "Agents meeting certain criteria as "Select Agents"
from the whole agency force. Also, transfer the same data to other
application areas who require the same. This project also involves the
expansion of Production IMS Database and add new Segments on it. The
expansion is done to "Transaction and Master Databases" to accommodate
the new data. This new data of the agents is generated/ calculated in
the system processing and stored in the database. Existing Batch
process of the production software is modified to process the new
segments data in the daily processing at Regional Offices and
Corporate Office.
The data thus prepared can be changed/corrected through new online
data entry screens, as an override. This data would be seen through a
new Online Data Inquiry Screen, created as part of the project. On the
whole, it is a project of about 8000 hours with lot of need for
Coordination & Project Management skills to handle the Project & the
team.
Environment /tools: MVS, JCL, COBOL, DB2, IMS DB/DC, PL/1, SAS.
My role is to understand the business specs & convert them to System
requirements, Design the system additions/changes, guide the team to
prepare the SPECS & Unit Test Plans, Review the same when they are
ready & get them approved by Client. Also, guide he team to Code &
Test and subsequently review Unit Test results, Perform Integration
Testing and System/Acceptance Test to approve the changes by Client.
Do/ Mentor the team to do necessary documentation at each stage of the
project.

Project Name: Customer Response Center.
Client : Satyam Computer Services Ltd, Hyderabad, AP, INDIA
Role : Developer Team Size : 15
The Customer Response Center utilizes the AIMS database for the Agent
information. With the past experience the current information is not
adequate to serve the needs of the Agents and the Policyholders. A new
segment is needed on the AIMS database with the additional data, with
the ability to input data, display the data and print the
confirmations to the agents when the new segment is updated.
This is an enhancement project. The process involves expanding the
production IMS database adding a new Segment to it to store the
Customer Response Center Information of an Agent.
The System changes include Adding two new online Data-Entry screens,
modify the Batch processing to update the online entries to the Master
Database, and create a new Online Data-Inquiry screen to view the data
on the database. The new data added can be corrected or deleted
through the new online screens, as per the need. In addition to this,
this data is transferred to other application area which directly
supports the Customers of State Farm (i.e., Policy holder) through
HOST & GUI interface.
Environment /tools: MVS, JCL, COBOL, PL/1, SAS, DB2, IMS DB/DC
My activity include Impact Analysis, preparing Estimates for the tasks
given in the project, Prepare SPECS & Unit Test Plans and review the
same, guide the team to Code, Perform Testing and review the Unit Test
output, guide the team to do Documentation and deliver the results to
