WORK Experience
Fabrication Engineer
Dec 07- Jun 08
Norinco Private Limited, Chennai, India
Worked on building 3D CAD models using Pro/ Engineer and prepare technical
reports for new product according to ANSI standard.
Manage and schedule batch and job order productions of press products.
Followed closely with superiors for development, cost estimation of the
product and with production engineers for scheduling to meet the estimated
cost.
Graduate Assistant, Texas A-M University-Kingsville, TX
Jan 10-Dec 10
Fabricated Shape Memory Polymers and Auxetic components. Worked and
assisted with development of composite research projects and other
manufacturing projects.
Fabricated and tested composite laminates, various polyurethane specimens,
rubber actuators, adhesives etc to determine their physical properties.
Improved fabrication techniques by performing structural analysis (Linear
and Nonlinear), using casting molds and different fabrication materials
(carbon fiber, fiber glass, various resins etc).
Trained basic composite manufacturing and CAM to high school students
during summer.
Graduate Student Mentor, Texas A-M University-Kingsville, TX
Jan 09-Apr 09
Assisted undergraduate students on Auto CAD, helped them machine molds
using CNC machine, and also trained them using various specimens.
Developed laboratory manuals for Composite Manufacturing course.
Designed and fabricated various molds (Epoxy, Wax and Plaster) using
CAD/CAM-ProE.
Trainee Engineer
Dec 06- May 07
DMRL, Hyd, India
Worked on high pressure vessels undergoing stress during Hot Isostatic
Pressing (HIP).
Theoretical analysis was done on the pressure vessel and later simulated in
ANSYS 10.0 considering the pressure vessel as a thick cylinder.
The results obtained were analyzed for determining safe operating stresses.
EDUCATION
Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
Dec 2010
Texas A-M University, TX, GPA 3.9/4.0
Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering
May 2008
Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science, India, GPA 3.9/4.0
ACADEMIC PROJECTS
. Design and analysis of Electro Active Polymer Pressure Sensor
Fall 09
Analyzed the advantages of advance Electro Active Polymers in the design of
pressure sensor using Pro Engineer 3.0 and developed it using FEA tool
Abaqus 6.8.
. Modeling of motorbike alloy wheels
Fall 09
Created designs for motorbike alloy wheels, design of wheels was carried
out in solid works,
3 D renderings were performed and 2 D drawings were generated.
. Modeling and analysis of a bracket
spring 09
Design, analysis and optimization of a bracket, modeling of a bracket and
assembly was carried out in Pro Engineer 3.0. Static analysis, sensitivity
test were performed in Pro Mechanica.
. Analysis of gear system including contact stresses
spring 09
Designed gears using Solid Works and analyzed the contact stresses using
FEA tool ANSYS 11 and compared the results obtained using Hertzian equation
according to AGMA standards to the results from ANSYS 11.
. Fabrication of Compliant wing skins for a Morphing Wing
Fall 08
Fabricated a number of compliant wing skins for a Morphing Wing, using
Carbon fiber/ polyurethane elastomer laminates of various orientations in
combination with resins.
. Simulation of Anti Lock Braking System (ABS)
spring 08
Demonstrated the functioning of ABS and compared it to a disk braking and
pictured out the advantages of ABS in the real world.
