EXPERIENCE
Wichita State University Wichita, KS
Jan 2008 - Dec 2010
Department of Aerospace Engineering, Graduate Research Assistant
Performed CFD analysis on inlets for aircraft gas turbines to increase
efficiency. Conducted numerical simulation of laminar, turbulent, steady,
and pulsatile blood flow in common carotid artery and bypass grafts using
Gambit, Fluent, and Tecplot for post-processing. Implemented 3D strucutred
and unstructured tetrahedral, hexahedral and moving grid to mesh a
geometry. Successfully implemented turbulent models such as k-w, k-e models
to validate experimental results to verify the application of each model.
Simulated the time dependent pulastile flow in complex human arteries by
integrating C code.
Performed and validated the wind tunnel experimental and CFD results of
supersonic and transonic flow-over compression and expansion corner using
laminar and turbulent k-w model to predict the effect of shock wave
downstram the flow. Effect of sharp corners causing separation was the
primary focus of the project.
Initiatives (Aryavarta Space Organization)

PROJECTS
. Grid size optimization of a car to simulate the blockage effect in
closed loop test section wind tunnel. Performed CFD simulations using
Fluent 6.3. Successfully developed mesh optimization strategy to
precisely estimate the drag of a car to simulate different blockage
ratio. Studied the effect of different grid size and mesh parameters
to optimize the mesh for performing simulation in a timely manner and
limited memory environment without compromising the accuracy of the
results.
. Received training and served as a Design Trainee at Hindustan
Aeronautics Ltd, Gas Turbine Division, India.
As the leader of a four member team, studied the gas turbine and
devised improvements for future design options. Developed and
delivered a report on designing a maintenance-friendly aerospace gas
turbine. Learned to use the latest 5-axis Computer Numerical Control
(CNC) machines to manufacture gas turbine rotors using Lean
methods.Analyzed the testing and design process of gas turbines
combustion chamber. Suuccessfuly simulated the ignition at higher
Mach number. Successfully investigated and implemented the boundary
conditions in the combustion chamber. Simulated the turbulent model of
combustion in the combustion chamber. Extensively used Catai V5 for
designing fuel lines, ECS, Actuators. Performed balancing of rotors to
avoid forced vibrations. Ensured manufacturing quality to determine
the balancing the mass on turbine shaft to avoid eccentricity to avoid
vibrations.
. Final year engineering project at Blue Dart Aviation Ltd (DHL), on
Quality Control Management in Aviation.
Studied the FAA, ICAO, and DGCA manuals in Quality Control department
and learned the role of Quality Control to maintain safety in the
aviation industry. Learned the life span of various components such as
shelf life, calendar life, hourly life, and cycle life. Established an
advanced system to minimize inventory and improve part-ordering
procedure logistics. Learned the complete maintenance procedure and
coordination of maintenance, inventory, Quality Control (QC), and
finance departments in the aviation industry.
