Job Title: Packaging & Preservation Specialist
Defense Logistics Agency/AKIMA, Bldg. 159, MCAS Cherry Point, NC 28533
Supervisor: Andre Davis 252-***-**** (may contact )
I receive aircraft parts that have been reworked or overhauled at NADEP
Cherry Point and preserve, package and prepare them for shipment to user
destinations, military activities or squadrons, or inventory points
within Navy Supply activities. I in check the parts using 1B screen to
obtain document number so that I can close out the job order number upon
completion of my work, I verify document numbers, national stock numbers,
serial numbers, quantity, condition code (A or F) of each part that I
process; if I find discrepancies, I work with NADEP personnel, Navy
supply personnel and military personnel to resolve them. I visually
inspect parts for defeats or deficiencies in processing (missing caps or
plugs; missing safety wire; chipped or flaking paint; leaks or dripping
fluids or fuels; missing lines or other obvious defeats), noting defeats
or referring to supervisor to resolve.
I determine the appropriate packaging, preservation and shipping
procedures to use by retrieving data from the Defense Standards System
computer programs. I look up parts by part number or national stock
number (NSN). If I am unable to locate needed information in DSS, I
research P700 screen or Fed Log.
Parts that I process include starters, accumulators, gearboxes, circuit
cards and synchrocylinders.
I work independently, setting my own work priorities by my knowledge or
special programs, job order numbers and activity codes, working oldest
items, special programs or expedited items first. I package items using
GP wrap and foam, seal the parts in plastic bags, wrap them in mental or
aluminum wrap and seal with a heat gun, place desiccant as needed in
containers and packages. I package circuit boards using fast pack boxes
that are cushioned inside. I package test sets using research and apply
information from Material Safety Data Sheets for any hazardous materials
I handle; I select and use appropriate safety equipment (gloves, safety
shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses).
I am responsible for the cleanliness and orderliness of my work area; I
am responsible for making sure I have on hand all materials and forms
needed to carry out my work. I pack and ship fire bottles by wrapping in
GP paper, cushioning with 2 inch foam, applying warning labels.
I make sure that all destination addresses are legible and that
information is correct, verifying the information by reading/scanning bar
codes on paperwork. I process mission "put away" items that are held in-
house until they are requisitioned; I indentify locations and storage
codes for these to make sure they go to the right locations.
I perform data entry functions to induct parts, process manifests, re-
warehouse materials and parts and for processing reports. I communicate
and pass along or receive information by answering phones and warehouse
pages. I assist with staging of material and loading and unloading of
trucks, moving material to proper warehouse locations. I place items
into appropriate containers, bins, on pallets and shelves; preserve
items; make bags for items; operate overhead cranes and nail lids on
boxes. I use printers to print work orders, manifest, labels and
reports. I use equipment such as overhead cranes, air tools, irons,
wrenches, hand tools (screwdrivers, pry bars, hammer), box cutters,
forklifts, slings and heat sealers.
I work in a warehouse environment, with moving equipment, forklifts, and
exposure to weather such as heat and cold. My job requires me to walk,
sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, reach, lift, pick up and move items
weighing up to 50 pounds. I am subject to cuts, scrapes and burns when
packaging materials; I am subject to foot injury from falling objects. I
exercise caution to ensure my personal safety on the job, and the safety
of others working in the area.

Job Title: Assembler
B/S/H Home Appliances, New Bern, NC
40 hours per week Supervisor: George Clayton, phone 252-***-****
(may contact)
I clocked in and out at the start and end of each shift using a bar-coded
badge. I used remote hand-held computers to verify model and serial
numbers of stoves to ensure that the correct stoves were processed for
the correct customer (Lowe's, Sears, Siemens and other customers had
their own blocks of serial and model numbers assigned to them). I
assembled gas, dual fuel and electric stoves. I worked from Illustrated
Parts Breakdowns, technical/overhaul manuals, schematic, engineering
instruction, drawings and wiring diagrams in performing my work I
preformed random quality checks during the assembly process to ensure my
work was in compliance with the company's quality standards. If
corrections were necessary, I made the corrections before sending the
stove on the next step in the production/assembly process. I used
computer programs including Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Internet
and e-mail for communications at home and at work. I had responsibility
for the cleanliness of my immediate work area. I selected and used
personal protective equipment as needed for tasks being performed
(hearing protection, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, etc.). I worked
independently, with little direct supervision.
02/1999 to 10/2003
Job Title: Brazing and production worker
SPX (formerly Hankison), 170 Hankison Drive, Newport NC 28570
50 hours per week Supervisor: Hosea Frazier, phone 252-***-****,
ext. 772 (may contact)
This company builds air treatment equipment for use in warehouse, large
automobile repair areas and other commercial spaces. I generated work
orders for various types of air dryer filters and performed the specific
sequence of duties stated in the work order. I read blueprints, measured
copper and bent the copper tubing according to blueprints. Then I brazed
the copper components using a brazing torch. I allowed the brazed unit
to cool to a prescribed temperature. Next, I performed functional tests
of the filter and processed it with spray foam to be shipped to the
assembly line. I performed work with heat exchangers. When work on
components was completed, I closed out the work order and transported
them to the assembly line.
I worked in the shipping area, verifying all production processes were
complete and accurate, verifying paperwork was accurate, and making units
ready for shipment, boxing them up using bubble wrap or other appropriate
packaging materials. I used a sandblaster to blast parts as needed. I
selected and used appropriate safety equipment and clothing for each task
being performed (safety glasses or goggles, gloves, hearing protection).

I assembled faucets and packed completed faucet assemblies in containers
to be sent to customers. I worked from written work orders and used
technical manuals, drawings and diagrams to assemble bathroom and kitchen
faucets to be used in sinks, showers and bathtubs. I was responsible for
the accuracy and quality of my work; I performed quality inspections of
my work at prescribed stages of production. If rework was needed, I
performed rework. I inspected individual components that I used in
assembly of the faucets, rejecting any defective components that didn't
meet rigid quality requirements. If I rejected a component for any
reason, I documented the reject (what the component was, reason for
reject). This information was charted by the company's quality assurance
personnel and was used to identify potential trends in bad materials
being received. When I finished assembly of a faucet, I performed a
final visual inspection and if the faucet met my inspection, I packaged
it for shipment. I selected appropriate shipping carton as well as
appropriate package/cushioning material (bubble wrap, brown paper for
padding, etc.). My work was subject to random, cursory review by
supervisors.

This was a small manufacturing business that built computer housing. I
worked in the package and shipping department. When housing were
completed in the production process, they came to us and we visually
inspected them to make sure paint finishes were good, that there were no
dents or sharp metal edges, etc., before we packaged them for shipment.

protective package, applied pre-printed shipping labels and shipped boxes
to customers.
