I have worked in the Environmental Health and Safety Management Industry
over the previous 18 yrs. I have been fortunate to have, had the
opportunity to travel throughout the U.S. in pursuance of my career goals.
I have in long term established a reputable work ethic I can be proud of in
search of gainful continuous permanent employment.
As reflected in my employment history, I have worked for a few companies
and have traveled as needed to numerous locations in the U.S. I am seeking
employment with a company looking for an employee that is eager to be
determined as an asset to the industry, continually educating, working
managerial and field knowledge, growing long term, and willing to do as
needed for the goals of the company and clients needs.
Over the years I have strived to maintain the educational needs of a
growing industry. I have pursued continuous educational requirements with
an average GPA of 3.4 while working the hourly constraints of 60-100 hours
per week on most employment opportunities. I have a long history of
working with only a few companies over the past 18 yrs in an EHS directors,
and or EHS Managers position requiring travel to multiple locations to meet
the needs of the companies requirements. I Have managed Safety
professionals from as few as 2-3 to a team of nearly 60 and I have adapted
and enforced safety cultures such as 'stop', 'safe cap', 'lean safety',
'NASCAR', behavioral based and many more for some of the most predominately
know companies in the US, such as Dupont, Nucor, DOW, Gerdau Ameristeel,
Duke Energy, Kentucky Power, Southern Energy, Mercedes Benz, Daimler
Chrysler, and many more.
Summary of Qualifications As an experienced EHS Safety Manager I have
extensive qualifications and experienced multi tasking skills in the
following areas. These skills are demonstrated over the previous 18 years.
Manages program to create a proactive safety environment, reduce
accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health
hazards through safety-training of all managers, planned inspections,
skill training, first-aid care, emergency preparedness, proper job
instruction, new hire training, planned job observation, rules and
practices, job analysis/procedures, and protective equipment;
Maintains compliance with governmental regulatory agencies (Mine
Safety Health Administration; Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives;
State of Tennessee) Able to assist with and conduct accident-
investigations and facilitate root cause analysis on any safety related
accidents and incidents
A broad knowledge of safety and risk laws and regulations in areas
such as, security processes, general liability, property liability,
business interruption, workers' compensation, loss prevention, claims,
and managed care programs. Ability to manage and prepare reports to
various groups about the company position relating to safety/risk issues;
Excellent written and oral communication skills; Strong computer skills
in Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, as well as
utilization of the Internet that may assist in increasing knowledge of
regulations and any other resources related to the job;
Experience in safety, risk, and loss prevention affairs in a
Construction, and heavy industry manufacturing environments; Extensive
knowledge of rules, regulations and loss prevention management systems;
Experience with safety regulatory agencies; OSHA, MSHA, knowledge and
experience;
Effectively manage Safety & Loss Prevention Programs for the complex
to assure prevention of injuries, illnesses and property loss.
Effectively manage regulatory requirements to assure prevention of
citations and penalties.
Manage medical and workers compensation related activities for the
plant/complex.
Manages the safety program established for contractors to include:
Assuring that appropriate documentation is collected such as, Certificate
of insurance, safety training, OSHA log, etc.
Assuring safety training is conducted and followed by all
contractors.
Assuring known potential hazards are communicated, and the emergency
action plan is understood and followed. Schedule and Conduct Monthly
Safety Meetings, Ergo Task Force Meetings, and other meetings as
developed. Provide outlines to supervisors for safety talks with a
checklist
Revise and update site specific Safety Programs. Assures training is
conducted for updated programs.
Oversees and assures completion of the safety-training portion of new
hire orientation.
Provides annual required safety training to new hires, existing hourly
employees and supervisors.
Coordinates and manages PSM & Hazwoper activities including RMP and NADA
as needed.
Monitors and administers safety programs including but not limited
to: Lock-out/Tag-out, Confined Space program, Ergonomic program, Hot
Work, Environmental Hazard, HazMat, HazCom, PSM, Fall Protection,
Storage/Containment.
Manages plant or site safety inspection and audit activities.
Conduct accident investigations with supervisors.
Assist complex/operations manager with regulatory inspections.
Supervise Security personnel, scheduling and addressing issues.
Supervisory experience that is analytical, self-starting, detail-
oriented, highly motivated, and flexible. Exceptional verbal and written
communication skills, as well as computer skills as required.
Including analyzing quality and safety data, management of internal
quality and safety audits, assisting in quality/process/safety training,
planning and leading quality and safety related meetings. (Preventative
Action, customer awareness, process improvement, quality metrics, Hazard
identification and mitigation, safety culture/awareness, safety
compliance, safety committee and safety action items Leads, coordinates,
implements, and supports Process Safety programs across multiple sites
and business groups.
Provide technical and regulatory expertise to ensure compliance, safe
work places, and continuous improvement of Process Safety programs.
Advise site management of compliance concerns.
Facilitate the sharing of programs, procedures, tools, and successfully
demonstrated practices. Implement standardized EHS processes. Experience
performing business process analysis, modeling and management.
Experience performing program management and Enterprise Resource Planning
(ERP)/SAP functional requirements management, (SOP) Standard Operating
Procedures. Ensure Process Safety philosophies are implemented correctly
during the safety reviews for new processes and process modifications.
Provide strategic direction of Process Safety issues pertaining to
the sites and businesses. Coordinate with the COEs on development of
processes and initiatives to ensure continuous improvement in Process
Safety.
Provide primary point of contact for all Process Safety, Business
process, and Management related issues, including the process safety
review process, facility siting, and interpretations associated with
OSHA's Process Safety Management/EPA's Chemical Accident Prevention
(RMP). Ensure commitments made in project reviews and elsewhere are
tracked to completion. Ensure the appropriate level of EHS expertise is
applied to capital project reviews.
Lead EHS Community work teams or task forces (i.e., inter/intra-
expertise and Community of Practice) including acting as process owner
for assigned EHS processes. Support interface with regulatory agencies
and third parties, as needed, on compliance and enforcement issues. Lead,
coordinate, and implement the required updates to the site Risk
Management Plan covering all process units at the Site. Support
implementation of the Responsible Care(r) Management System
